Announcing the brand new TwinklHive National Scholarship: Startup grants on offer to young entrepreneurs across the UK.
At TwinklHive we are extremely pleased to relaunch our scholarship and announce that our offering has gone national.
Our scholarship will provide grants and mentorship to individuals aged 18 to 24 and will enable young people to commit and pursue entrepreneurship as a full-time career path. To make their business dreams a reality we are offering £250,000 to young people across the UK who want to grow a digital business.
The combination of funding and dedicated support on offer has been designed to provide a unique educational experience and equip successful applicants with the knowledge and skills to grow successful and sustainable businesses. To apply, young entrepreneurs must have a validated concept for a technology-enabled business and a clear vision. Their idea should also be focused on solving a real problem for their customers, as the scholarship is looking to develop the next mission driven founders and cultivate startups that will make a real difference to society.
What's on offer?
- Each successful applicant will receive a grant of up to £40,000. The applicants are not required to pay back the grant, which also covers the founding team’s salaries of up to £20,000 for the six month period.
- Access to coworking space at the Twinkl offices in Sheffield
(COVID permitting). If applicants are based outside Sheffield we
will help them to find working space in their local area
Mentorship from experienced start-up founders and Jon Seaton,
Twinkl’s CEO and Co-founder - Guidance and 1:1 support from the TwinklHive team
- Access to a range of training sessions and workshops led by
Twinkl Management and TwinklHive connections
Networking opportunities and introductions to TwinklHive’s
expansive network - An opportunity to apply for follow-on investment from the
TwinklHive accelerator
Who can apply?
The scholarship is available if you are aged between 18 and 24, have
completed compulsory education and are based in the UK. We are
looking for applicants that have a viable business plan or validated
idea for a mission-driven digital business that solves a pressing
problem. We are particularly interested in hearing from start-ups
focused on community good.

Set up in 2019, TwinklHive was created by the entrepreneur Jonathan Seaton, who is the Co-Founder and CEO of the global educational publisher Twinkl. Jonathan started Twinkl with his wife Susie Seaton in their spare bedroom over ten years ago. The business now operates in over 200 countries and regions and has over 790 team members based at its offices in Sheffield and around the world.
Since its launch, we have supported a variety of mission-led founders from startups in the tech sector, including EdTech, FinTech and HealthTech. Our scholarship is part of our efforts to support the startup ecosystem more widely, as we aspire to assist and support young entrepreneurs with our scholarship scheme.
