Introducing: Teacher Tapp

--

Which subject has the rowdiest classes? How many red pens are used each year? Do lunchtime supervisors prefer inside or outside?

Calling all teachers. This is your chance to be heard.

Founded in 2017, Teacher Tapp started as a project with a personal mission to platform educators and make teachers’ voices heard. Nobody knows what a teacher’s life is really like except those who go into schools across the country day in and day out and keep the world learning. With Teacher Tapp, a survey app which asks 3 short multiple choice questions every day at 3:30pm, you can find out what your colleagues are thinking and help shape the discussion around teachers’ experience in the media and education policy.

“Teaching is often talked about, but teachers often don’t get a voice.” All too often, the views of teachers are overlooked or go unheard amid changing regulations, pressure on exam results and budget cuts. Teacher Tapp believes teachers’ voices are among the most important in shaping our nation’s future, both inside the classroom as they educate future generations and outside as their experiences help to make a real difference to the education discourse and remind colleagues they’re not alone.

Helping those who teach has always been at the core of what we do at Twinkl so, this summer, Twinkl is teaming up with Teacher Tapp to bring you some fascinating facts and figures from the lives of teachers across the UK. We want you as educators to come along for the journey with us to add your voice to thousands of your fellow colleagues and we’ll be encouraging you to get involved in the following ways:

Ask

Ask yourself — how can my opinions help my fellow colleagues and make a real difference in the world of teaching? Can I use my voice to express what I’m going through as a teacher and find out if my colleagues feel the same? Simply Download the Teacher Tapp app onto your phone and you’ll be asked three quick and easy multiple choice survey questions every day at 3:30pm to help achieve exactly this.

Answer

Answer questions on Teacher Tapp to be connected to your fellow colleagues, policy and education research. Answering the survey questions will add your voice to the thousands of teachers across the UK helping to make changes in education policy as well as open the door to the education research community. Use your classroom experiences to make real change and add a human face to often broad and impersonal policy. By answering questions on wellbeing in the classroom, for example, you’ll help foster understanding of what’s acceptable and where you need to draw lines for your own wellbeing.

Learn

With Teacher Tapp, not only do you have access to questions each day, you can also read daily tips crafted specifically for teachers — articles, interesting data and fun tidbits and anecdotes from your world of education both inside and outside of the classroom.

Try out Teacher Tapp over the summer for some fun teacher trivia to help you unwind and enjoy the holidays as well as inspiring reads and tips to get ready for the new school year in September.
