Each year Twitch joins forces with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for Extra Life United: a chance for those who participate in Extra Life to learn tips from other charity streamers, play in a tournament to win money for their hospital, and meet some of the kids who are here today because of our efforts. Thanks to everyone who tuned in and donated, together we were able to crush Extra Life’s goal and hit an all time new high of donations raised with over $40,000 donated this weekend!

Nathan talking to Twitch staff about Overwatch

This year ambassadors from the US and Canada came to celebrate and share their stories with the attendees for Extra Life United. They shared their stores and uplifting, positive outlook with everyone, and it was quite the inspiration to be able to play games and talk with them. Nathan even grilled several of us on Overwatch (“Who’s your main? [His is Mei.]”, insisting on asking us if we play it and dismissing anyone from the conversation who didn’t.

Several Twitch partners were also in attendance to participate in a tournament that would help raise additional funds for their local hospitals. Quill18 was the overall champion, winning $16,000 for SickKids in Toronto, ON. DeftNinja came in 2nd with $14,750 for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and Loomin in 3rd with $11,250 for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

You can re-watch all of the tournament, interviews, donation hype, and fun moments on the official Extra Life Twitch channel. Registration for Extra Life is still open so make sure to sign up now!
