Since 1949, the United States has observed Mental Health Awareness Month (#MentalHealthMonth) every May. While this is a great tradition for the US, Twitch’s streamers and viewers come from all around the world, and we want everyone, everywhere to get involved in something as important as this.

What You Can Do

If you’re comfortable doing so, spend some time on stream or in chat with your community talking about mental health, your experiences, and what it means to you. Even just starting the conversation can be the first step someone needs to seek help or assist someone else. You and your community can also sign up to fundraise for one of the following organizations:

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
AFSP raises awareness, funds scientific research, and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide.

Crisis Text Line
Crisis Text Line is free, 24/7 support for those in crisis with over 62 million messages processed to date. They are growing quickly, but so is the need for help.

Take This
TakeThis, Inc. seeks to inform our community about mental health issues, to provide education about mental disorders and mental illness prevention, and to reduce the stigma of mental illness.

Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance
DBSA’s peer-based, wellness-oriented, and empowering services and resources are available when people need them, where they need them, and how they need to receive them — online 24/7, in local support groups, in audio and video casts, or in printed materials distributed by DBSA, our chapters, and mental health care facilities across America.
