We’ve got some brand new features for Live Role that were first suggested by people in our Discord server. At the time of writing this, the suggestion now has 53 upvotes. We finally implemented this idea, and now you can set up TwitchBot to send a message when someone shows the streaming status on Discord. On the TwitchBot dashboard, you’ll see that the Live Role section has been given an upgrade.

Live role notifications are meant to provide a fast and mainstream way to send out messages when a user goes live. Messages are instant, meaning that as soon as someone is shown with the streaming status in Discord, the message will be sent. This is entirely linked to Live Role, and will have the same limitations, meaning that you cannot individually blacklist people from being announced. Live role notifications will only work if a member shows the purple streaming status.

This may be useful for communities that like to promote streamers. Live role notifications will also honor the filter role, allowing you to fine-tune which members are announced.

An example message.

Live Role’s new capabilities should be available to all servers now, along with fixes for previous bugs (because it broke with an earlier update).

Thanks for choosing TwitchBot!
