We recently ran a survey in the last few days asking people for their opinions on TwitchBot Premium and how we can improve it. Over these days, I’ve been collecting the data and reading people’s responses. We’ve gotten a lot of insight from the 15 total questions we asked to different audiences, including Patrons and non-Patrons.

We received 57 total responses to this survey, which is more than I had initially expected.

The Responses and Feedback

In the survey, we asked non-Patrons why they weren’t subscribed to Premium. Respondents could check multiple answers, or have custom answers. A majority said they weren’t interested in subscribing.

We also asked non-Patrons if they would consider resubscribing with a cheaper version of Premium. Over 60% would possibly subscribe with a lower-priced version of TwitchBot Premium.

We asked respondents to explain their decision to the above question. A couple responses which made good points included:

No disposal cash to spend on an announcement bot, when announcing is all I want.

Basic service does what I need it to, and I’m not very keen on subscription-based services of any kind.

We understand that having a premium service is not the most necessary thing to have, especially with a bot that should provide basic services. That being said, we’ll be lowering the price of TwitchBot Premium. Respondents that answered “yes” or “maybe” to the above question were also asked how much they would pay for Premium.

53% of people who took the survey said that they would pay 1 to 2 USD per month for Premium, with an additional 23% saying that they would pay more. According to this data, the optimal price for TwitchBot Premium would be about 2 USD per month.

Another main point with the survey results is that there are not enough features that come with Premium. We have a (large) backlog of ideas that need to be implemented. Both Patrons and non-Patrons suggested new features to be added to Premium. Some respondents suggested that we re-add the toxicity filter that was included in the 1.x version of Premium, while others suggested that we add more Live Role options, including roles for moderators and followers of a streamer.

Conclusions & New Features + Improvements

  • We will be lowering the price of TwitchBot Premium to $2.50 per month, and the Premium 3x tier will be changed to $5 per month
  • A Premium dashboard (plus an easier way to manage your premium servers)
  • We will be beta-testing Twitch webhooks with Patrons (<1 minute response time) in the near future
  • More features will be added to both the premium and regular bots within the next few months

For the most part, we hope to improve our business model, but more importantly increase the functionality of both the free and premium versions of TwitchBot.

Psst, I’ll be streaming on Twitch soon to celebrate 1,000 followers. We’ll be playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Follow us at https://twitch.tv/twitchbot_discord to catch the stream!
