“…an untimely sneeze by a president could mean the difference between life and nuclear disaster.”

As Spring comes posthaste, so do seasonal allergies.

If you’re one of millions who suffer from sinus irritation caused by pollens, pet dander or mold, don’t fret — you’re in great company.

Some of our greatest American leaders suffered from seasonal allergies, too!

Allergies, though harmless, are quite obnoxious for an average citizen. But, an untimely sneeze by a president could mean the difference between life and nuclear disaster.

Let’s turn back the pages of history to find out which of these former Presidents of the United States suffered from seasonal allergies.

John Quincy Adams

John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams, played a momentous role in the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, which brought an end to the War of 1812.

What you may not know is Johnny Q’s displeasure of trees, grass and ragweed. Why you ask?

You guessed it, John Quincy Adams suffered from seasonal allergies.

Grover Cleveland

Grover Cleveland, aka Mr. Popular, after a wildly successful first term, his second shot at president didn’t live up to expectations.

Historians blame the Panic of 1893 but, Grover’s closest friends and loved ones had another theory…

They believed he lost the respect of the American people. Grover Cleveland did not suffer from seasonal allergies.

BONUS FACT: Grover Cleveland’s half-brother, Moses Cleveland, went on to found the prosperous city of Cleveland, OH. The more you know!

Gerald Ford

Gerald Ford — presidential pardon my language — came off like a real hard ass. Yet, he had a softness to him that many did not see.

That softness was thanks to his continued use of Kleenex Facial Tissues with Lotion due to Gerald Ford’s struggle with seasonal allergies!

Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln has achieved a near god-like status with the American people. Only Abe could make abolishing slavery look so good!

But what everyone is dying to know is, did Abraham Lincoln suffer from seasonal allergies?!

No.

Next time you go into a sneezing fit, remember that Presidents have seasonal allergies, too. #presidentsneezesmatter
