Tech EQuity Week

Celebrating Tech + Equity in Oakland!

We hear an incessant barrage of failings related to diversity & inclusion from all corners of the tech industry. The narratives range from the deeply personal to the mundanely bureaucratic , but share a common dour thread. Tech EQuity week aims to show the other side of this conversation. We hope to put a spotlight on folks working together to create a more equitable tech ecosystem that may be the model for cities across the country.

Convened by Qeyno Labs in partnership with the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the TechEquity Collaborative, and the Alliance for Community Development, Tech EQuity Week brings tech companies, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations together in an extended week of activities showcasing tech diversity, inclusion, and STE(A)M education for Youth. It is the nation’s first event of its kind, and proudly launches from Oakland.

Between February 23rd and March 3rd, the city will be flush with tech + equity centered events: hackathons, office tours, workshops, conferences, community dinners, etc. You can find the full slate of events here and reach out here if you’d like to add an event to the calendar.

Oakland is the most fertile city in the country to birth a radically different tech ecosystem that serves the community instead of simply servicing the community. Join us in the joyful act of redefining what a Tech ecosystem can be by attending/hosting an event, sponsoring, or spreading the word.
