Why I left my dream job at Google for Twos
Working at Google was my dream job ever since high school when I read How Google Works by Eric Schmidt, the second CEO of Google.
So you can imagine my excitement, after years of applying and getting rejected when I finally received my job offer.
Google is an amazing company, if not the best, and I was extremely lucky to work there.
I like to refer to Google as “adult Disneyland” since the office I worked in had restaurants, a gym, bikes, food trucks, a putting green, basketball court, nap pods… but it’s better than Disneyland because everything is free and they pay you tons of money to show up.
So why would anyone leave such a magical place?
You know that feeling when you’re doing something you know you shouldn’t be doing? That’s how I felt working at Google despite all of their amazing perks.
I constantly felt the urge to help people by building a better place to write things down.
People need (and deserve) a better place to record, remember, and share their lives
Since the dawn of time, people have been writing things down. Cave people used the blood of animals to write their history on the walls, Egyptians carved into stone tablets, and before phones and computers, people dipped feathers in ink.
We all want to remember things and share our stories with future generations.
There are some good tools, but none of them are focused on helping you write things down in a quick and organized way and then helping you recall and remember things just as quickly.
Paper is rarely nearby, lost, or thrown away — and can’t be easily searched.
Apple Notes is unorganized, doesn’t have reminders, and doesn’t account for days.
Notion and Evernote are complicated and time-consuming.
People need a quick way to write things down that stays organized over time no matter how much information you put into it.
That’s why we’re building Twos: the all-in-one app to keep track of your days, lists, and things.
