But for participating in such programs it is must to know about these programs, eligibility criteria, etc. We bring you the 7 most sought after Internships with details :

1. Google STEP Intern

STEP (Student Training in Engineering Program), formerly known as Engineering Practicum, is a 12-week internship for first and second-year undergraduate students with a passion for computer science. The internship program has a focus of providing development opportunities to students from groups historically underrepresented in tech, through technical training and professional development.

Timing of Application : full-time 12-week internship from May 2020 to August 2020 or June 2020 to September 2020.

Eligibility Criteria :

· Must be a first-year or second-year undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field at a university in North America.

· Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, JavaScript or Python.

· First-year students must have taken one college level Computer Science course by the end of first semester. (AP or IB Computer Science is acceptable.)

· Students must be available for a full-time 12-week internship from May 2020 to August 2020 or June 2020 to September 2020.

2. Microsoft Codess

Codess is a global platform by Microsoft to encourage women in the field of technology. In India too they host networking events for female engineering students to network, learn from each other and receive mentorship from Microsoft Employees.

Eligibility Criteria :
B.E/B.Tech 2nd year (only 2nd yr students allowed) girls with 70% (or a CGPA of 7/10) in the current academic program could register for this event.

Recruitment Procedure :

Round 1: Registration

The registration form asks for personal details, what you like about Microsoft, CGPA etc.

Round 2: Online Coding Test

It is a 75 mins coding test conducted by CoCubes. It contains 3 coding questions based on problem solving, data structures and algorithms.

3. Adobe #SheCodes

The Adobe India Women-in-Technology Scholarship, is striving towards creating gender equality in science, technology and engineering domains by encouraging women to showcase their excellence in computing and technology and become future leaders and role models in the field.

Time of Application : August to September of the year

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Enrolled in B.Tech/B.E., completing graduation in 2022, i.e. 3rd year students.
  • May apply to ONLY ONE of the following two Scholarships — Adobe India Women-In-Technology Scholarship OR the Adobe Global Women In Technology Scholarship.

4. Amazon AmazeWow

AmazeWoW or AmazeWiT is a development initiative with internship and FTE SDE (Full time Software Development Engineer) opportunities for Amazon in India, focused on bringing in top talent from engineering institutes. It is an initiative which gives an opportunity to women students in their final or pre-final year to work at Amazon as an intern or full time employee.

Eligibility Criteria :

Criteria varies on the basis of opportunity, largely for 3rd year and final year girl students.

Recruitment Process :

The process starts with filling an application in Amazon WoW website, in the application basic info about college, branch, resume are to be submitted. After a few days based on the resume mail will be sent regarding the round 1 test.

5. DevelopHER by twitter

The Twitter Internship Program is a 12-week experience for undergraduate and graduate students to gain direct exposure to the day-to-day of the company.

Timing of application : 3 November to 3 April

Eligibility Criteria :
At least 18+ & currently enrolled in a two-four year academic institution

Recruitment Process :

Once your application is complete, the teams will review it. If a team is interested, we’ll reach out to begin the interview process. It goes like this:

· First round, via phone or video conference.

6. SheCodes, Indeed 2020

Indeed invites women developers to join the coding sprint. SheCodes, Indeed 2020 event gives women an opportunity to showcase their skills by solving real-world problems and win some cool prizes.

Time of application : Contest starts at 5th Sept 2020, 9.00AM IST and ends at 7th Sept 2020, 9.00AM IST.

Eligibility Criteria :

All Women residing in India can participate

Recruitment Process :

The coding sprint is an online event and includes several open-ended problem statements related to Indeed business. You are expected to work individually and solve them. Winners will be chosen based on most questions with optimal solutions — put your problem-solving and coding skills to the test.

7. Outreachy

Outreachy internship is an open source program, it provides an opportunity for an online collaborative environment for learning, and remote mentoring with experienced FOSS contributors, many of whom are employed to work with free and open source software. The Outreachy travel stipend gives interns a chance to network with their community, give their first public tech talk, look for a job, or learn new skills.

Timing of application : May to August .

Eligibility criteria :

Outreachy is open to applicants around the world. You will need to meet the following requirements :

  • If you are not a university student, you may apply to either internship round.
  • If you are a student of a university in the Northern Hemisphere, you will only be eligible for the May to August round. Students in India are considered to be in the northern hemisphere, regardless of where their university is located.
  • If you are completing your last term for your degree, you may be eligible for either round, regardless of what hemisphere you are in.
