“We need to demand more of our culture, of our society. And we need to demand more from one another. We’re all necessary, and we can all contribute, to building.” — Marc Andreessen

Back in April, Marc Andreessen wrote an article calling for society to build (see here). One quick look at the current milieu, and it’s apparent that his words have never rung truer.

Now, more than ever, we’re being called to step up and build products for a world in which we’d like to live. For any real change to happen during these unprecedented times, we need people to question the design of the world, dream up new ideas, and execute on them.

We need the dreamers and builders to come together and push humanity and the world forward.

Enter Texas Convergent.

Texas Convergent is an entrepreneurial, product-building organization at UT Austin. We provide students the necessary skills and resources to drive the future of innovation through a hands-on, project-based curriculum.

We’re focused on building new companies, new products, and reimagining how the world is built through the lens of technology, business, and design.

Enter You.

We’ve been preparing the programming for a semester of building, but we need dreamers and builders from all backgrounds to join us this semester in paving the path to the future. Whether you’re an aspiring designer, a developing developer, or a business-savvy thinker, we’d love to have you. If you’re interested in being part of something great, fill out this form to stay in the know of our upcoming events and announcements. And, of course, reach out if you have any questions.

In the meantime…

We’re a community of learners and doers, which means we’re constantly stretching our brains to do more. We know that all of you are busy with passion projects, internships, and summer classes at the moment. But, if you ever find yourselves with some extra time on your hands, here’s a curated list of resources to prepare you for a semester of building in the fall:

  1. Github Student Developer Pack — A one-stop shop for access to the best developer tools on the Internet
  2. JetBrains Academy — Interactive project-based learning to advance your Java, Python, and Kotlin skills
  3. DataCamp — Helpful for learning Python, especially if you’re focused on data science and data engineering, along with SQL and R (free 3-month subscription with Github Student Dev Pack!)
  4. CodeCademy — Generally versatile for learning how to code in several different languages

Note: We are not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with these companies.

And, finally…

We’ve created some awesome playlists for you to jam out to while you’re learning, doing, or learning-by-doing. Pop on your headphones and choose your fighter:
