2017 has truly been an unforgettable year at Tykn: amongst all of the exciting developments, our team has expanded three-fold, interest in our work has grown exponentially and we have seen exposure like never before. With this in mind, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all of you who have extended us a helping hand throughout the year and have shown your continued support. 2017 would not have been the same without you.

Before we wish you a fantastic end of year, let us first show you some of our favourite moments of 2017:

Rockstart Selects Tykn Among 1100+ Applicants to Join Accelerator
After winning Startup Weekend Utrecht in November 2016, Tykn, along with 9 other startups, was selected to partake in Rockstart’s Web & Mobile Accelerator programme out of 1100+ applicants this year. Our time at Rockstart was a rich experience, and did as promised; it accelerated us! A special thank you for everyone at the Rockstart team, as well as the team members of Bot Boys, FlyMedi, Scitodate, Bouw7, Onduro, Vanido, Frosha, Hunters, and WeParc for all the support!

Tykn Participates in The Blockchain Future Trust Summit at The Hall of Knights in The Hague
On September 28, the Tykn team was invited amongst other stakeholders to co-create with the challenge owners of the Blockchain For Good Ecosystem. Tey El-Rjula (CEO) and Jimmy J.P. Snoek (Business Development Lead) were representing the Tykn vision on the future of resilient identities.

This session was incredibly valuable to us, as we met HRH Prince Constantijn of Orange-Nissau, and jointly expressed the urgent situation in Saint Martin where certainly Tykn solutions are needed now more than ever to build a resilient identity management system leveraging Blockchain technology. To make this a reality, he paired us with the Red Cross team on this case, and since then we are collaborating on a most ambitious plan, kicking it off in Q1 2018.

Tykn Becomes a Founding Steward of The Sovrin Network
A great milestone for Tykn, the Sovrin Foundation unanimously voted Tykn into the Sovrin Trust Framework as a Founding Steward of the Sovrin Network. Ever since, we have been working closely on the development of the network, and with it, the inevitable future of self-sovereign identity. For more information about what this exactly entails, and for more information about Sovrin, please read the article linked in the heading! Read more…

Dr. Moe Levin & Marloes Pomp Join Tykn Advisory Board
Both movers and shakers within the Blockchain space in their own regard, we could not be happier with both Dr. Moe Levin and Marloes Pomp joining our board of advisors. Their presence has been invaluable to the momentum we have gained over the past year, and we are looking forward to an exciting 2018 with both on board!

Tykn Presents at The World Blockchain Conference in London
On September 26, Tykn’s Business Development Lead Jimmy J.P. Snoek presented Tykn’s developments at Keynote’s renowned World Blockchain Forum at the Oval Space in London at the invitation of Keynote CEO Dr. Moe Levin. The effects of our presence at the conference have rippled throughout the rest of our year and has yet to stop giving, so for this we are most grateful.

Interested in attending future events? Tykn is also a sponsor of The North American Bitcoin Conference (a part of the WBF) and will be presenting in Miami on January 18–19 alongside some of the best and brightest in the Blockchain space. Tickets are available now, so don’t miss it!

Tykn Wins Spindle Innovation Award for Project ZINC
After being selected as one of the 10 best applicants to participate in the Spindle Summer Labs, Tykn’s Project ZINC (Zero Invisible Children) was ultimately chosen by the jury of the Spindle Innovation Awards as the most potentially impactful, and with it, won us first place at the Partos Innovation Festival in October. We could not have been happier!

Tykn Presents at United Nations of Economic Commissions for Africa in Ethiopia
Only last month, the U.N. invited Tykn to present at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Ethiopia. Here, COO & Co-Founder Khalid Maliki presented Tykn’s application of distributed ledger technology for economic inclusion and resilient identity across the African continent, which was received with incredible enthusiasm of government officials and giant tech-companies representatives alike.

As you can see, 2017 was a wonderful year for us, and we have no doubt that 2018 will be even better. We have some major announcements for Q1 2018, and we are most anxious to tell you about them, so stay tuned!

We wish you all Happy Holidays and a fantastic, fulfilling New Year!
