This week we completed our final presentation for Project 1! To our surprise, we had the opportunity to present directly to a board member of Shady Lane. Unlike our point of contact, he wasn’t given any information about the project, so he was unbiased and able to look at our research and findings with a fresh set of eyes. Overall, he seemed very happy with our work and gave us some useful things to consider once we come back to this subject later on in the semester.

Later in the week, we had a wonderful guest lecturer who led us through a unique, context-focused exercise. We tasked with identifying and grouping peculiar kitchen and crafting items in a way that would be easy for a random person to interpret if they were to walk into the room. I had the opportunity to sort the items before my other classmates and I refined and finalized our arrangement. Although we ran out of time, this exercise was a great refresher of basic design principles, some of which I will have the opportunity to explore in other classes this semester.
