Glitz!
Dinner is the Show
Brand Description
Glitz is a classic American style restaurant glittered with old Hollywood charm. Located in Hollywood, Los Angeles; Glitz’s dining room features a large movie screen that silently plays classic American movies while the rotating menu features dishes inspired by the movie playing in the background such as Disney: The Lion King’s Pesto Gnocci and Steak “Grubs” and a Bison Steak “Stampede.” At Glitz, “Dinner is the Show,” and you are the star of your own dining experience!
Mission Statement
Our mission is to combine Old Hollywood nostalgia with a classic cinematic experience and delicious recipes inspired by your favorite movies. Glitz keeps its patrons returning with a rotating menu and the appeal of returning to a simpler time.
Logos
The logo created for this concept is rooted in iconography of the cinematic experience. Glitz is the merging of cinema and dining, the logo’s “projector” provides an emblem that can be used when the full lockup is redundant or too large for its purpose. The logotype lends itself to yesteryear. The logo can be used as a full lockup with the tagline, with just the name, or also an emblem with just the “g” and the projector icon.
Color Palette and Typography
Classic, simple, nostalgic. The color palette for Glitz emulates the upscale environment of the restaurant. The typefaces were chosen to define the retro yet fancy feel of the brand.
Branding Package
I designed staff uniforms, wearable merchandise, signage and environmental design assets, packaging, and dining objects. I applied a simple pattern throughout these deliverables to keep the branding consistent.
Conclusion
This project was the first large scale branding project I have created throughout my time at Tyler. I learned to expand my ideas of what might be considered branding design, from a tiny package to the facade of a building. I enjoyed creating a brand with a fun, vintage inspired-theme outside of my typical design style. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone helped me grow as a designer and artist.
