For the Junior restaurant project, we were tasked to create a food business that could include in-person restaurants, food subscription services, grocery stores, or food delivery services. We needed to research the issues that people struggle with or what opportunities there might be to create a unique food business.

My design proposal for this project is a delivery service for busy professionals with an unusual theme!

Brand Identity.

The idea starts from the idea of Santa Claus, who visits the entire world on 25th of December and delivers folks a gift. Office Santa seeks to bring that magic of Christmas to the corporate office environment. The twist in this idea is that Santa will be delivering to adults rather than children and that he will do it all year, not just one day.

With that idea. I have chosen a specific category of people, professional office workers.

This demographic always struggles with finding time to eat meals. These people need a service that makes the food ordering and delivery process easy, simple, and fast. That being said, they also have limited lunch time, and do not like to spend extra time to find a place to eat and wait for another 20 minutes for food to be served to them.

Office Santa delivery service was created to help save time for these busy professionals, The delivery service is specifically limited, and focuses on delivering to offices in the immediate area. This service delivers to their office door on time so they can go to that meeting well-nourished and ready to get to work.

Mission Statement

OFFICE SANTA is a food delivery service specifically made for those busy business people. Have a meeting in an hour but you’re hungry now? No worries. Order from Office Santa and stay jolly in your office! Simply order your choice of sandwich and beverage from our custom app and you can guarantee your name will appear on Santa’s nice list. Our delivery Santa will bring your food on time in the blink of an eye. With Office Santa, everyday is December 25th!

Main Logo Design

Progress from Mid-century styling to final logo

The logo needed to represent a blend of delivery service, office worker, and Santa Claus. My solution did this in a whimsical way by showcasing Santa in a business suit and tie on a delivery bike. One challenge related to Santa being such a known concept, with much stylization of him already out there. I needed a unique style and artwork for the brand and ultimately settled on a mid-century illustration style which went well with the concept of a corporate professional. The style utilizes illustration with a simple color palette and skewed geometric shapes. The choice of font was “San Marino” by Graphic Fresh, which also followed up with the Office worker theme which was solid, geometric theme. Also, the bold italic was picked up in the way to give a hint of “fast delivery” service.

Color Palette

Main Logo Color Palette
Sub Color Palette

The main identity color palette includes bright red, black, and white for simplicity. It was apparent when it came to expanding the brand to other deliverables, especially on a display like a smartphone, that I needed to expand to include a secondary palette.

This secondary palette remains true to the mood of Christmas but the additional colors are easier on the eye and allow for the inclusion of more complex information on the app. I mainly used green(#3DA369) and a tint red(FF523F) for the most part to continue the Christmas theme and three additional colors were used for small elements on some of the deliverables.

Feature Design

The feature design for the brand is the application. Office Santa is a delivery service like Uber Eats or Doordash, but with its own menu. It is a quicker method for customers to order food than going to offline stores or finding individual restaurant websites. With so many people owning smartphones, it is a very accessible, quick, and convenient option. As we previously noted, time is valuable for busy professionals. Ordering a meal in our own app should never take long, so the goal for designing the application was to make it as simple and accessible as possible

Packaging

The main items on the menu are sandwiches, beverages, and desserts. To keep the brand unique and memorable, I have designed special packaging for the sandwiches to make them stand out. The bottom of the sandwich box includes utensils and napkins, and if requested, some condiment packets. All the packaging elements include all-over patterns that are made with office tools and Christmas-related objects.

Uniform

You can’t call someone Santa if they don’t have a Santa outfit. The uniform design includes both fall and winter apparel. The pieces have a modern aesthetic and also relate to an office environment with business attire that stays connected to the main logo design.

Motorcycle

Motor scooters are the delivery vehicle for Office Santa. The scooters are painted with the brand’s main color palette. The motor scooter was chosen as the vehicle because of its friendly nature. The food order delivery box would sit on the back of the scooter, and relates to the overall theme as a gift box with ribbon.
