The long-awaited music video for Teyana Taylor’s “WTP” is here and it’s magnificent.

Tonight, we’re talking about stories too good to be made-up, hurt Saints fans writing letters and filing lawsuits, Tony Romo aka “Romostradamus,” and the best music video of 2019. 🕺🏿Let’s get it🕺🏿

New segment: You Can’t Make This Up

This segment will cover… well… you’ll see.

The government can’t hold a border security conference because of a government shutdown due to… a border security standoff.

When you shut the government down for a stupid reason, don’t be surprised when stupid comes back and smacks you in the face.

The Cognitive Dissonance Award of the Year aka “Ummm, excuse me, Pete?”

On MLK Day, Representative Peter Welch, from the great state of Vermont, published this “Lukewarm Vanilla” tribute to Dr. King:

Boring? Yes. Horrible? Not at all. However, the next damn day he posts this…

As always, Twitter ran up on Pete in 0.02 seconds:

Key Takeaway: While the congressman apologized, my problem is that slavery is apparently something he can forget.

🤔

I

WONDER

WHY

🤔

It’s nice that a centuries-old American institution just “slipped his mind.”

New segment: 🔥 It’s Lit 🔥

We move from the brain fart congressman to our baller congresswomen!

New House Committee Assignments aka “It’s About To Go Down.”

You may be asking: Why are House Oversight Committee appointments big news? Well, I have a tweet for that:

WATCH YO SIX WHITE HOUSE 👀

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley is also headed to the House Financial Services Committee and dropped the tweet of the night:

These ladies are intelligent AF and can Internet with the best of ’em! #LFG

Pelosi v. Trump: The Battle of the Letters

  • January 3 —Returning heavyweight champ aka incoming Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi sent Trump a letter acknowledging January 29 as a mutually agreed upon date for the State of the Union (SOTU). This date was selected with the understanding that the government shutdown would be resolved by then.
  • January 16 —With no end to the shutdown in sight, Nancy came back with another letter stating national security concerns because (correct me if I’m wrong) NO GOVERNMENT SECURITY GETTIN PAID RIGHT NOW AND THE ENTIRE CONGRESS WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE this is literally how the TV show Designated Survivor starts.
  • Today — Trump sends a letter basically saying it would be “sad not to” have the SOTU on the 29th so he’s coming whether Nancy likes it or not.
  • Three hours later — Nancy claps back.

Here’s Nancy Pelosi’s translator aka my dear friend, Jill Hopkins-Olewnik:

Nancy hittin’ ’em with the “per my last email” block. That’s professional office talk for “I know your simple ass heard me the first time.”

So what happens if Trump shows up anyway?

CO-EQUAL BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT TRUMP CAN YOU DIG IT?

And the closer:

Next week will be extremely interesting.

Update as of 8:00 PM:

They scrambling, y’all!

Update Update: Possible scenarios for where Trump will do the SOTU 😂

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE as of 10:30 PM:

PELOSI CAUGHT A BODY!!!

NFC Championship Meltdown

From Pelosi v. Trump to the Saints vs. Rams. Or, if you’re a Saints fan:

  • Saints vs. the refs & Saints vs. the NFL.

Ok, what are you talking about Mike?

Watch the video below.

The Saints would eventually lose 26–23 in overtime and end their season in heartbreaking fashion for the second year in a row.

Wait, what happened last year?

Well…

Ok, back to Sunday:

  • When I saw the play in real-time, it looked really close to being a penalty. However, I’m a fan, not a referee. They are trained and paid to make these calls, especially in an important moment like the 4th quarter of the NFC Championship game.
  • Slow-motion replays clearly show that the refs blew the call. Actually, they blew two calls. One for defensive pass interference and another for hitting a defenseless receiver IN THE HEAD. Even the Rams defender admitted after the game that the refs blew the call!
  • If they get either one of those calls right, the Saints could have drained the clock to under a minute at least (the Rams still had two timeouts) and kicked a game-leading field goal with seconds to go. Instead, the Rams had 1:41 left (and two timeouts) and eventually tied the game at the end of regulation and then won in overtime punching their ticket to the Super Bowl.
  • As you can imagine, Saints fans were NOT happy after the game. And it seems like every one else in America wasn’t either! All you have to do is go to the Google machine and find stories like these:

But this is just the beginning.

Angry celebrity Saints fans wrote letters to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell!

Even the Governor of Louisiana busted out the parchment!

Nothing better to do, eh?

There’s more.

Looks like there will be some salty NOLA bars on Super Bowl Sunday:

And there’s more! Some Saints fans filed real lawsuits!

And another one:

Sorry to break it to all the Saints fans (and everyone else) screaming that this missed call lost them the game. Let’s break it down:

  • RIGHT after this missed call, the Saints kicked a field goal to take a 23–20 lead! Like, they were WINNING after the missed call that apparently lost them the game. How does that work? 🤔
  • The Saints had a chance to win the game in regulation but instead allowed the Rams to kick a game-tying field goal with seconds remaining.
  • Then the Saints won the coin flip and received the ball first in OT only to do this on the first drive:

So, no, the Saints didn’t lose the game because of one missed call. They lost because they blew two double-digit leads, threw a costly overtime INT and couldn’t stop the Rams offense on two critical drives.

Until next year…

Tony Romo aka “Romostradamus”

Former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo made his color commentating debut (with the 🐐 Jim Nantz) last year and became a legend on his first telecast. Just watch the first minute of this video:

He’s also got solid Dad-level funny in him too! Skip to 4:19 for my favorite Romo moment of 2017.

His ability to predict plays before the snap has become its own meme and was on full display in the AFC Championship game between the Patriots & Chiefs:

Update: Apparently, Tony Romo knew what the Patriots were doing better than the Chiefs because they just fired their defensive coordinator 👀.

And the best Psychic Romo tweet goes to…

My take: Sorry, y’all. Romo is not psychic. Tony’s good at predicting plays because he was a professional quarterback for over 10 years. When he sees QBs signaling at the line of scrimmage, chances are he’s done something similar. I think instead of believing Romo can predict the future, maybe we should ask why NFL commentators have been so bad before he entered the booth!*

*Tony Romo’s #1 Cowboys receiver (and close friend), Jason Witten, just finished his first year as a Monday Night Football commentator. Unfortunately, he… he has not been very good. So, maybe Tony is just that good.

Watch: Teyana Taylor’s music video for “WTP”

😍😍😍 Sensory overload 👀👀👀

If you’re into hip-hop/R&B music, you may know of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music label. Well, last year (while Kanye went MAGA on us 🤦🏿‍♂️) he also produced five new albums and orchestrated a weekly album release from May to June. Albums from Pusha T, Kanye’s own Ye, Nas, a collaboration between Kanye & Kid Cudi, and… Teyana Taylor.

Of course, Teyana’s album was delayed and received nowhere near the publicity as her male label counterparts, which sucks because her album was the best G.O.O.D. label release (please @ me)!

One of my favorite tracks from her album is “WTP” and the music video (after another delay out of her control CAN WE PLEASE TREAT TEYANA BETTER) was released this afternoon.

Even though it’s January, the music video game is shut down until further notice.
