It’s September — and that means a new school year!

After what seems like an unfairly short summer, it’s been great to see familiar and new faces making their way along Alma Road into school (mostly through the rain).

Scenes on Alma Road earlier this week

I’ve been into school a couple of times already , for a post-summer catch-up with Mrs Wright, and a Strategic Meeting with Mrs Spark, Mrs Wright, and Mrs Manion.

While there, I had a look round the classrooms with new doors and windows, and could not believe the difference they’ve made — the rooms are so much brighter and more modern looking, and being able to open the doors in summer will make for a fantastic learning environment.

On the subject of academisation, we have completed and submitted our application form to the Regional Schools Commissioner. Initial feedback from them has been tremendously positive, and we now wait for the Board of Headteachers to review the application later this month. I’d like to remind you all that we’ve kept the consultation email address active (consultation@tyntesfield.trafford.sch.uk) so if you have any comments, please do send them through. No final decision will be taken by governors until later this year, so as we continue to investigate various details, your views are valued.

The Department of Education have released a new online tool for us (staff and governors) to analyse the school’s performance, called Analyse Schools Performance (I would have liked to have been in the meeting when they came up with that name), and we’re just getting to grips with how it works.

“Analyse School Performance”

We have a full governing body meeting later on this term — I’ll put out another update on governor business after that. In the meantime, don’t forget you can follow us on twitter: http://twitter.com/tyntesfieldgov.

Have a great Autumn Term everyone!
