Who on earth uses an AI voice-over platform?

When something is inexplicable and not crystal clear, people act differently. Some ask for others’ opinions, others look for a book that explains what others have done before when they were in the same situation. People are desperate to know what others have done before them so they can learn from it without making the same mistake.

But what if there is no precedent? What if they have to learn something from scratch by experiencing and going through it themselves? Would you still be willing to do it then?

We don’t know what “it” means to you, but to us, it’s what an AI voice-over business is all about.

Text-to-speech is a fairly new technology, and on top of that, we’re creating an AI voice that has intonation, emotion, and prosody. So we can’t really say what kind of business model we’re following, because we have no choice but to go our own way.

AI voice-over app: Typecast

Our AI voice-over platform, Typecast, is based on a subscription business model that allows users to download different lengths of the final audio files after they have entered and generated content as an audio file. We offer a free plan where a user can download one 10 minute audio file per month. There are more than 90 voices of all ages, from a child to an elderly person. Yes, you heard it right. 90 voices. Then it’s probably easy for you to guess how diverse the content of the users will be. The age of the users also varies, and we can’t even easily predict which character would be the most popular or least popular.

Eyes on the free users, Ears on the paid users

As a for-profit company, paid users who find us useful and use us regularly are very valuable, and you might think we’re just focused on boosting paid users.

Let’s be direct about what we do: our eyes are on the free users, while our ears are on the paid users.

As mentioned earlier, we have over 90 characters. All of our users are content creators, regardless of their content type or age. Paid users tend to create content that shares news, knowledge, reviews, and educational content, so they need a calm, trustworthy, and knowledgeable voice. We shouldn’t slack off checking the quality of the most commonly used voices in these users’ content, as they want the voice that sounds best as a news anchor or narrator.

On the other hand, free users are literally free when it comes to using our various characters. They tend to create dramas, reality shows, cartoons, etc, mostly for fun or entertainment. Nothing restricts their creativity and imagination, as there were no expectations of anything in the first place. For example, free users started creating content with our children characters as if they were friends in the same school, and the view of this content recorded 130 million views. Ironically, there is an influencer who did a good impression of our AI voice character, and everyone admires and applauds her impression of our AI voice character by saying you totally sound like Camila from Typecast! How fun it is!

What are the takeaways?

The more content the free users create in the best creative way, the better for us to promote our product to those who don’t know it. They even use over 10 characters in just one content when many characters are needed in a show or drama.

Then you might wonder. When are we going to answer the title? Who on earth uses an AI voice-over platform? From kids to elders, everyone uses it as long as he or she is a content creator. Age doesn’t matter if you are a creator.
