“Three steps rather than ten” — the platform economics and the transformation to microservices

--

Digitale Leute Summit is an event for digital professionals in tech, design and product, offering panels, fireside chats and in-depth interviews about how to find unique solutions to digital challenges using a pragmatic approach.

This year their team kindly invited Jason Harmon to give a talk, and Moritz Meyer took the opportunity to interview him for their magazine about becoming a platform company. Here’s an excerpt:

“Where it used to take ten steps to link Typeform to another platform, there are now three. In addition, users immediately see how they can connect typeform with other tools. And we see which connections are particularly popular with users, “explains Jason. The other platform tools also benefit from better visibility via the new platform.

In this open infrastructure, Jason sees the future of platform economics. “Attempts to build a platform that links everything to everything have been around for 20 years. In fact, it’s very hard to build something that really works while providing a good user experience.” This is especially true at a time when web platforms are increasingly mapping more specific use cases.

You can read the full interview in both German and English.

Regarding Jason’s talk in Digitale Leute Summit, he will be speaking about his role at Typeform and how to manage technology and engineering in an emerging platform company. If you can’t attend the conference, you can anyways follow it on these channels:

🎵 Sweet dreams are made by geeks, who are we to ditch a PR? We travel to events and assorted meetups. Everybody is looking for swag.
