Look, it’s hard to choose a font. It’s even harder to pair fonts. That’s why, while I was attending Adobe Max 2017 in Las Vegas, I designed a free tool to help:

I call it TypeVibes.com (and it’s finally live!)

TypeVibes allows you to choose beautiful font pairings, filtered by “Vibe” (a.k.a. brand identity). You are provided real-life examples on the internet to serve as a catalyst for creativity. All the fonts featured are free to download.

How you can use TypeVibes

First, I recommend jotting down some key words that define your brand. How would you define it? Is it friendly? Is it serious? Does it evoke stability? You can do this in silo in a journal, or, grab some post-it notes and do a team affinity diagram.

Next, head over to TypeVibes.com, and use the vibe filter to narrow down your type options. You’ll be provided direct links to download the free fonts, as well as the website they originated from.

The “Vibe Filter”

There’s also some other helpful tools, such as a Font Lists, which are personal recommendations of fonts that will help you get started quickly. When you have a chance, be sure to check out my first list, “Top Six Universal Body Fonts.”

TypeVibes is just getting started

The database is fairly small today, but I will be regularly adding new fonts in 2018.

I do not get paid for gathering content on TypeVibes. I do not get paid for the time it takes me to write for it, to design, or develop it. In fact, TypeVibes costs me money in hosting fees, and time.

But I’m not doing this for money. I created TypeVibes.com because I want to make the world a more beautiful place by empowering people to design better.

You can help support TypeVibes by simply telling people. Tell a coworker. Post a link on your company portal. Pull up the website during a team meeting. You can even tweet out a link on your social media account.

Thank you, and I look forward to sharing great fonts with you in the future!
