Are we living in a society obsessed with sex and vulgarity?

We have gone from a nation raising our kids right to letting anything go. Proof of it, shows in the Victoria Secrets’ lingerie commercials on family orientated shows. Sex has gone from a private bedroom thing to being public display.

Recently, I was checking my social media site, when I came across one photo. A photo of a man wearing only a thong, some kind of boots, and glasses. It was obvious he must have been drunk. Right? Well, what really disturbed me was the parent in the far right corner allowing her young son to view the horrendous act. As a mother, she should have covered her son’s eyes from the drunken man’s display of wild behavior on a train. Yet she and her child as well as the rest of the train were watching the drunken man. Maybe, they were all too stunned to think. This picture only gives a glance into the society we have become. Back in the day, that man would have been arrested and taken off the train by police or other respectable men asap.

Literature something we all enjoy. Has tuned more sexual than ever before. Erotica has risen as a genre for all to read. Sex, alcohol, naughty actions all for one’s greatest pleasures. I am an adult. I love romance novels.

As I shop for books, the covers mostly have some kind of sexual act going on…it’s not enough for a man to be shirtless or seeing a fully dressed couple sharing a kiss, instead we see half or almost fully nude men and women on covers. Both in some kind of sexual position…insinuating some kind of sexual intimacy. What happened to letting the mind wonder…? What does the sexual attraction of these covers say about us as humans?

At my local library, books full of kids doing nothing but drugs and sex are featured where the young and impressionable audience can easily access them. These books had adult content far worse than most adult novels I have ever read, yet there are in the teen section.

Teen material has gone from appropriate to less than appropriate for their level. If it’s not enough having media like TV, Disney, and songs making sex appealing and ‘cool’, we now, have literature that promotes it as well.

What happened to family orientated stuff that doesn’t involve sex, drugs, violence and alcohol. Video games now have more violence than before. Our children watch and play stuff that has all of these aggressive and inappropriate materials.

Some wonder why our society isn’t fussing over such promiscuous material being everywhere…it’s because our society has grown up with it being everywhere. This makes the material okay instead of vulgar and inappropriate. When will we fix the level of obscenity, when it’s too late or before we completely lose what is right?
