Blogging goals

I start this blog with one primary goal, to write every day some small text (in English). The best way to improve a skill is to practice. If you manage to spend time on something that you want to improve, you must practice if not daily at least the most you can.

The initial goal was to write every day — Monday to Sunday — however, during the weekend it is not so easy, as my routine is different from the rest of the week. Nevertheless, I write a post from Monday to Friday. When you try to make strict goals, e.g., every day, and you already know that there will be some days that you will no have the time to do it, it is better to relax your goals and deal with failures. In my case, I didn’t write a post if I am traveling by bus, during the weekend — if my girlfriend is not working — or as it happened one or two times, I was concerned with some meeting or presentation. Otherwise, I am willing to “wast” half an hour to write a post. If I do not have the time, I will write shorter posts or spend less time on revisions.

One of the most exciting outcomes of this routine was to wake up early. I have always considered myself a morning person. However, I did not manage to wake up early a long time ago. Now, I wake up with the motivation to write the post and start working as soon as I finish the post. Moreover, I think I am improving my writing skills, or at least I am more confident about it. I start writing faster than before.

In the end, the balance is very positive. I do not know how long I will keep this habit, but make an effort to keep it as it is.
