How much will it cost to use my U card on holiday?

Using your U card in any currency that’s not pounds sterling (GBP) will incur a standard 3% foreign exchange fee, whether that’s for taking out money at an ATM or paying for something in a shop, restaurant, bar or anywhere else. And that’s it!

Depending on which Price Point you’ve chosen for your U Account, there may be a fee to use a cash machine in another country, but it won’t cost any more than it does here in the UK: it’s free on the £10 Price Point, costs 50p per withdrawal on the £5 Price Point, and the fee on the £0 Price Point is £1.

Are there any limits to using my card abroad?

The limits that apply to your U Account won’t change when you’re abroad, but you should bear in mind the exchange rate and 3% foreign exchange fee that’s applied, as it might be a bit trickier to keep track of how much you’ve spent or withdrawn. More info on all our limits can be found here.

Do I need to tell U before I go?

There’s no need to let us know when you’re travelling abroad, we’ll keep an eye out for any unusual spending on your account in the same way we always would.

It’s one less thing for you to worry about, so you can focus on not forgetting your passport.
