This is the latest in our series on the new Bear Tracks and we explain exactly what information that is located in “Profile” and “Notification Preferences” and why it’s important to make sure the info here is up to date.

Profile

Personal Details

Here, you can see the information that you provided to the University — like your date of birth, gender, Social Insurance Number (only the last 4 digits), citizenship status, country, and primary and preferred names. The only field you can change is your preferred name. If anything else is incorrect or needs to be updated, reach out to Student Connect.

Contact Details

In this section you can see your email (University provided and personal), and your mobile, business, and home phone numbers. With the exception of your University-provided email, you can edit all other fields.

Addresses

Here is your home — and mailing — address. Be sure to keep this section up to date. Why? Official University documents will be sent to the residence listed here. And if you haven’t include direct-deposit information under the “Financial Account” section, cheques will be mailed to this address too. Additionally, for anyone convocating this year, your parchment — what you’ve been working towards all these years — will be mailed to you at this address.

Emergency Contacts

You can add or change emergency contacts here.

Official Correspondence

This is where you can confirm any official messaging you have received from the University. This includes viewing official correspondence uploaded to Bear Tracks, such as offer letters and academic standing letters.

Social Insurance Number (SIN)

The last four digits of your SIN are shown here.

Additional Links

Students can access the link to Electronic Communications (Electronic policies).

Notification Preferences

Notification Options

Want to see your final grades as soon as possible? Do you have courses on your Watch List you really want to get into? If you answered yes to either question then give your consent to receive notifications to your email addresses and/or phone numbers when your grades are posted and when your Watch Lists are updated. Be sure to have the notifications set to the accounts/phone numbers you will be checking, because the Watch List waits for no one.

Once you save your changes, you can click on the next menu option, called “Summary.”

Summary

If you have adjusted your settings in the “Notification Options” section, click on this section to see a confirmation of the changes made.
