On the Thursday 16th we went to London King’s Cross Railway Station and Central Saint Martin’s. King’s Cross Railway Station also known as King’s Cross is a Central London railway terminus, also prides itself as one of the busiest railway stations in the UK. Central Saint Martin’s, CSM for as it’s alternatively known as is one of the University of the Arts London.

I had the card ‘Show me the money!’ and the task at hand was to work out the sources of money in King’s Cross Station. One of the key things identified were the shopping stores and kiosks, it was part of the task to identify and point out how customer acquisition works through the use of displays; some displays even show deals and offers to lure more people in.

The Pasty Shop is one of the stores I visited. It first got setup in London Liverpool Street Station, the store has expanded across 15 locations in London and the UK. The establishment key attraction is the sales of it’s traditional Cornish pasties. A thought of the fact the stores are very niche it helps drive revenue and peaks peoples interest in the company, it’s limited amount of stores should breed a solid core customer base. This comes because the flagship items are unique and not as accessible in other kiosks and smaller stores from larger chains, like Starbucks for instance.
