Alexa! Your Uber is arriving now

The simplicity of ordering an Uber can be a magical experience and one that we continue to iterate on. Today we are excited to take it one step further by allowing you to request an Uber ride with just your voice. This is all made possible thanks to our the Uber API and our integration with Alexa, the brain behind Amazon Echo.

Now you don’t have to rely on your phone when you’re ready to go. You can simply ask Alexa to order an Uber for you, and she’ll request a ride right to your door. Get on your way by saying:

Getting started with this new skill

Amazon Echo offers hands-free voice control for music, information from Wikipedia and the web, weather, timers and alarms, news, shopping/to-do lists, sports updates and scores, smart home features, Audible books, calendar entries, IFTTT, and much more. And with the Alexa Skills Set, a growing number of powerful features are being added by third parties all the time. These include: asking for local event info, daily horoscopes, playing games, ordering a pizza — and now requesting an Uber.

To try out the Uber skill, start by setting your Echo’s location in the “Settings” section of your Alexa App. Then simply enable the Uber skill in the “Skills” section of the app, and link your Uber account. From there, you’re ready to ride — and if you’re new to Uber, you can use code 15Alexa to get $15 off your first ride.
