Since launching our API last August, we’ve been getting more involved with the developer community and working with others who share our same passion. Now it’s time to pay it forward! Starting today, Uber and Coding Dojo will be working together to build a hands-on curriculum that will not only leverage Uber’s expertise in API development, but it will also help the students become the next generation of technology leaders.

Coding Dojo, one of the first coding bootcamps to launch in the US, helps aspiring developers reinvent their lives and careers in just 12 weeks. Coding Dojo Students complete a rigorous 3 full stack curriculum online or onsite at one of their locations in Silicon Valley, Seattle, or LA (opening in August 2015).

“We’re continually looking for new and creative ways to improve our curriculum. By partnering with Uber, we’re able to give our students further hands-on learning in API development, while also opening up doors to make a community impact. It’s going to be exciting to see what applications Coding Dojo students can create using the Uber API and what evolves out of the partnership.”

—Richard Wang, CEO of Coding Dojo

Coding Dojo students will not only learn how to work effectively with the Uber API, but they’ll also receive advice from Uber staff, participate in developer events such as hackathons, and work on real-world projects that are faced in today’s industry.

Building to make a difference

To kick off the partnership, Uber will be hosting a private hackathon at Coding Dojo’s Silicon Valley office on May 29th-31st. Using the Uber API, students will have 48 hours to build an app that will either help out their community or a non-profit organization of their choice. Once students complete the challenge, a panel of judges will critique each project on design, originality, effective use of the Uber API, and most importantly impact. We’re excited to see how well the new curriculum prepares students for solving real-world problems and how the projects that come out of these challenges will impact the community.
