3 Tips to Earn More with Uber Eats

Uber eats is a great opportunity to fill your time in between drives. It is also an opportunity for you to earn money using an older car or if you don’t have someone to watch your child and need them to travel with you. Both of those are against Uber’s rideshare terms, but OK for Uber Eats.

But I hear from so many drivers that dong Uber eats isn’t worth it. Too much driving, too little pay, and no or low tips.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to stand out and earn those tips others are leaving on the table.

Here’s three things you can do to earn more as an Uber Eats driver.

1. Purchase an insulated delivery bag: For a low investment, you will deliver food to your customer hotter and it will look more professional. It shows you care, and that is the first step to earning more tips. You can buy one of these for as little as $15 or as much as $30 depending on the size. Just go to amazon and search for ‘Insulated Delivery Bag’. You’ll have that bag paid off after about 5 deliveries.
2. Confirm the Order is Correct: Some restaurants receive many orders, and all restaurants make mistakes. Make sure what you receive matches the contents you expect, the customer name and the order number. Don’t just grab the bag and go.
3. Communicate: This is where you show how awesome you are. Message your customer every step of the way so they know exactly what to expect. Here’s some scripts you can use:

Once you receive the food from the restaurant, mark it as received and send a message to the customer saying “Hey John, this is Mike your Uber Eats driver. I just received your food and it is staying warm in an insulated bag. I will be there in 15 minutes”

When you arrive, hand them their food, thank them for their order and leave. Before you mark the order as delivered send a final message. “Hey John, thanks again for the order. If you have a moment, I would appreciate if you could go back into the Eats app and rate my delivery today. If I met your expectations for good service, I would love a ‘thumbs up’. Thanks again and enjoy your food!”

A couple things about this. Make sure you send the final message before you mark the delivery as delivered or you will not be able to send the message. Also, as we have mentioned before, it is bad form to ask for tips. However, by asking them to rate you, when they follow through, they will be given the option to leave a tip. This puts you in a better position to get a tip.

But who has that much time to be writing all those messages? No one. So write your script in your phone’s notes application and copy and paste it. All you have to do is change their name and how long it will take you to get there.

Just like that you are performing better than 99% of Uber Eats drivers and will stand out among the crowd. Those that stand out earn more tips.
