On Sunday, November 5th, remember to turn back your clocks!

This Sunday, we’ll be treated to an extra hour of sleep as we turn back the clocks for the end of daylight saving time. This change signals shorter days — and winter weather ahead. In the midst of your seasonal checks and preparations, remember to take a few steps that can help make the roads safe for all travelers.

Road safety is the responsibility of everyone who uses the roadways. Prevention and planning take some time up front, but may help you avoid dealing with a vehicle breakdown or traffic incident. To do your part, check to see if your vehicle has any open recalls. Enter your vehicle identification number (VIN) into the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) VIN search tool. And if your vehicle does happen to have an open recall, take the necessary steps to get it fixed.

Each year during daylight saving time NHTSA launches an awareness campaign prompting drivers to take action. We believe that campaigns like this are necessary to make roads safer for all users — at Uber we are happy to do our part and spread the word. Before hitting the road, search for open vehicle recalls by make or model or by VIN. You can also sign up for recall email notifications to get recall updates as they are announced.

Decreasing the number of cars on the road with open recalls remains a priority for NHTSA and we are pleased to join this important effort. Follow NHTSA’s conversation by mentioning @NHTSAgov in any of your tweets.

Thanks for doing your part by remembering to #CheckForRecalls when turning back your clocks this Sunday!
