Bella, the protector of Tech bay

Tradition dictates us to welcome our furry friends on Pet Day at work often at UrbanClap.

This time we had our biggest one yet, all sorts — from a little Lhasa Apso to a fierce German Shepherd joined us this day. The ever-helpful Workplace Administration team left no stone unturned to ensure necessary arrangements were in place for these little cuties — Food, water, and all other necessities were in place as well to make them comfy. We were set!

A few employees were actually frantic (because dogs = teeth = get bitten!) but others just went gaga over these little beings. You might be surprised at how pets’ presence can enhance everyone’s moods!

Studies have shown that bringing pets to work can increase productivity.

Between 75% and 95% of workers who took part in a survey about pets at work felt that the practice improved morale, work-life balance, relationships, and work hours.

Allow me to tell you why bringing pets to work is basically one of the best things ever!

1. Higher productivity

Studies show that our brains can only focus at a high level for a maximum of about 50 minutes. To keep working at peak performance, it’s vital that we take intermittent breaks throughout the day.

2. Reduced stress

Pets are known as stress relievers! Multiple studies have demonstrated that owning a pet lowers blood pressure and reduces stress hormones like cortisol (which is linked to depression and anxiety), while increasing oxytocin, a feel-good brain chemical that is linked to happiness.

3. Improved morale

Trust and communication rival stress and promote productivity, causing improved morale and reduced absenteeism. The four-legged-creatures were a good reason for teammates to meet, to chat over coffee, taking them for a run or feeding them.

We had a day full of fun with our doggy comrades and we look forward to hosting them time and again. All in all, it was a helluva day! Start one in your workplace soon!

Sounds like fun?
