Overview

As part of a new SFI funded study on the peer review process of grant funding research projects, the ‘UCD School of Information and Communication Studies’ (Principal Investigator: Professor Kalpana Shankar) are hiring a half time (50%) Research Assistant (1 year post).

Role description

Under the supervision of Principal Investigator and Maynooth University collaborators the RA will be provided training where necessary to carry out the following research tasks:

1) Searching and organising relevant academic and policy literature in the relevant domains.

2) Assist with communication, organisation and co-ordination of focus-groups and interviews.

3) Shadow and assist Academic Collaborators in initial academic/industry interviews and conduct subsequent interviews according to specified interview protocols (The Research Assistant will support Academic Collaborators at Maynooth University).

4) Assist in organisation and on-site support for focus groups.

5) Transcription of interviews.

6) Initial coding of data according to the interview and focus-group code-books.

7) Assist in the presentation and formatting of reports and publications.

The project is to start March 1.

Salary: 50% on the scale: Research Assistant 4 (PRSI, pension contribution included). Annualised salary: €24,069 (Full time)

Qualifications:

Applicants should be self-starters. Experience and interest in qualitative research (interviews, focus groups, coding) required; Web design/social media desirable. Must be willing and able to travel to Maynooth as needed. Must also be able to attend meetings in Dublin. Schedule is flexible except when meetings, focus groups, interviews are scheduled.
