Barely a month after the death of 2 students of the institution, LAUTECH mourns the loss of yet another of her students. Akinde Moyosore Abdul, a 100 level student of the Department of Biochemistry, slumped on the 17th of June during an athletic training at the institution’s sports centre popularly known as Maracana stadium.

According to an eye witness, Moyosore slumped while jogging alongside some other members of the athletic team. Although he was rushed to the health centre immediately for medical attention, he gave up the ghost before he could be attended to at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, where he was referred.

In a memo sent by the institution’s PRO announcing the closure of the sports centre for three days in honor of the departed student, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Ologunde described his death as another black episode in the history of the university. He said it was a painful experience that remained unexpected and devastating as it was not expected at a time that students were resuming for academic activities and aiming at an unbroken academic calendar".

He further added that our prayer at this time was for God to grant his parents and relations the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss while stopping all these unfortunate incidences in LAUTECH.
