Summary

Overall, this was a very interesting and challenging assignment to complete. I have never experienced working in a team of more than five people, let alone fourteen, so it was a bit hard to determine the dynamics of this project. Who completes that part? What color scheme do we go with? When should this be done? It was a lot of tricky communication and decision making. However, we managed to work everything out and ended up with a great application for college students called CampusBuzz!

I definitely think the limited amount of time we had to develop this app hindered the ability to make it the best it could be. If I were to redo this project, I would have less people involved to simplify the amount of communication there would need to be and definitely a longer period of time to complete it. I would also develop the features of the app a bit further such as the design of the timeline of blog posts and the logo. As a desktop app, it needs to have very simple and straightforward features, so other than the aspects I listed I would like to improve upon, I don’t think anything else really needs to be updated or else it will be too busy and complex.

Exhibition Brochure

Summary

Once I received Donald Deskey as my artist for the exhibition, I immediately began my research on him. I mainly noticed that his work was very modern and contemporary for the time period. He utilized many neutral colors in his pieces and played a lot with dark reds, blues, and black. After conducting research I knew I wanted my stylistic choices for the exhibition to mimic his work. I developed neutral, dark color schemes for the title wall and used a bold, sans-serif font for the title to push that modern aspect. His work is overall simple, yet makes a bold statement. This is the main inspiration I decided to run with for the project.

Summary

It is a bit different summarizing this workshop over the other two due to the fact that it was held online and there were absolutely no in-class sessions. I found the process to be a bit harder and, even though I was able to email my questions or comments, I still struggled with certain aspects. With that being said, however, I really enjoyed the assignment given. It was a fun and creative opportunity for the class; we had the chance to really make this project our own during an unusual and uncertain time. If I had the chance to redevelop this book, I would love the opportunity to print my progress along the way and see how it would really look in a physical sense — I know that is a really important aspect when it comes to the creation of a book.
