ACBC actively promotes two-way trade, investment and economic cooperation and understanding between the business communities of Australia and China. ACBC is a membership-based, non-profit, non-governmental organisation with more than 1500 representatives from over 900 Australian companies who do business with China.

John will present on the topic of “How Blockchain is the solution to delivering efficient and cost effective supply chain logistics”. John will discuss UCOT’s impact on supply chain management and that it will provide total transparency and provenance to imports and exports between Australia and China. UCOT enables companies who use it to give their customers a 100% guarantee that they will get an original product in the best condition possible.

The senior executives expected to attend are those who want more efficiency, trust and cost savings in their supply chain management system, giving them an advantage over their competitors who do not employ this technology.

Operations updates

UCOT, UTS and Sydney Fish Market to develop the Trusted Fish Provenance and Quality Tracking System.

UCOT, the University of Technology Sydney, and Sydney Fish Market (SFM) participated in a workshop on the traceability of fish this week. SFM is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. A working fish market, SFM sources product both nationally and internationally and trades over 13,500 tonnes of seafood annually — with up to one hundred sustainable seafood species traded every day and approximately 500 species traded annually.

The seminar focused on the details of a plan to increase fish traceability by utilising NB-IoT and blockchain technologies. The three parties will jointly develop the ‘Trusted Fish Provenance and Quality Tracking System’ to provide innovative and optimal solutions for transforming and upgrading the traditional fish supply chain.

The project will address the fishing industry’s current pain points:

  • Tedious and slow paperwork for fisheries and SFM.
  • Little feedback information resulting in lack of trust from SFM and the end consumers.
  • Lack of subjective fish quality assessment.
  • Lack of online trading.

The project has 3 phases and is expected to be completed in 18 months:

  • Phase 1: Fish Provenance & Quality.
  • Phase 2: Fish Tracking & Online Trading.
  • Phase 3: System Integration & Trial.

The expected outcomes of the project are:

  • Less paperwork because of automated processes for both fisheries and SFM.
  • Objective fish quality assessment.
  • Online trading for SFM.
  • More information for the end consumer on fish origin, species, size, condition, quality etc.
  • For Sales Enquiries contact UCOT’s Sales Director Mike Verhoeven on +61 403 491 144 or mike.verhoeven@ucot.world.
