Bertelsmann Udacity Data Science Scholarship Challenge Course
Beginning of an Exciting New World of Data!
How it Works!
This scholarship was open to Bertelsmann employees as well as the general public interested in Data Science. Applicants 18 years of age or older are invited to apply. They reviewed all applications and selected 15,000 recipients to participate in the Scholarship Challenge Course. This is where your learning begins!
I was ecstatic to know I was selected for Phase 1 of this scholarship starting May 8, 2018.
Phase 1: Descriptive Statistics Challenge Course
In the first phase,we have three months to complete this challenge course. We have access to forums moderated by expert Udacity Mentors who can answer your questions and provide guidance. You will also be invited to join a private Slack channel and Facebook group, where you can connect with your peers in the program, share your progress, get feedback and ask questions.
We will spend 3 months learning all about the statistics you need to succeed in the world of data. Top students from the initial Challenge Course will be selected for a full Nanodegree program.
Course Content
There are 2 main sets of content in this course :
Descriptive Statistics
- In the first section of the content, you’ll learn basic concepts of statistics that can be used to extract information from data.
- This is the CORE CONTENT in this challenge course and you are expected to work through it at a steady pace and finish it well within your 3 month timeline.
This free course can also be accessed by all people
Advanced Concepts
- There is additional material that will give you the opportunity to get hands-on experience in Python and SQL, two important building blocks in the world of data.
Phase 2: Nanodegree Scholarship Opportunity
You have the chance to qualify for a follow-up scholarship for a Nanodegree program. These scholarships will be awarded based on your progress and performance in the initial three month challenge course, as well as your contributions to the student community.
