AltConf 2016: Udacity Fireside Chats — #6 Jaim Zuber

Welcome back to our interview series from AltConf 2016! Can you believe it’s #6 already? So many great conversations … and today is a another one, because today we share our chat with Jaim Zumer!
Jaim Zuber is an iOS Developer and consultant at Sharp Five Software in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also is a panelist on iPhreaks, a weekly podcast about all things iOS programming.
What We Talked About
I really enjoyed my entire talk with Jaim, but I particularly appreciated his thoughts on getting started in iOS development. Given how popular our Beginning iOS App Development Nanodegree program is, the Udacity team spends a great deal of time talking to, and teaching, beginning developers, and I feel like a have a whole new sense of how to support our beginning students after this talk!
We of course also discussed the iPhreaks weekly podcast, in addition to digging into things like Unit Testing and MVC vs. MVVM … you know, iOS stuff!
Takeaways
Jaim gives invaluable advice for budding developers who want to know how to get started in iOS development. He shares what skills are most important, and how to standout in the marketplace. But arguably the best takeaway, and one close to our hearts at Udacity, is his recommendation that students, and even those with years of experience, should always be learning and asking questions.
