Welcome to #7 in our AltConf 2016 Fireside Chat series! Today we talk with Kendall Gelner, a long time iOS developer who actually started before the App Store even launched! Needless to say, we were super excited to hear his insights on the field, given his unique experience and perspective.

What We Talked About

Kendall owns his own software consultancy business, KiGi Software, and in our talk, he offers his thoughts on the experience of “going solo.” He also dispenses a wealth of advice for indie developers, including vital guidance on how to become a software consultant. We also get into things like third-party code (when and when not to use it!), must-know technologies for Senior iOS Developers, Core Data and mogenerator, and maybe most useful of all, the secrets of getting along with designers!

Takeaways

If you see your path to professional iOS development as being an independent one, there is no one better positioned to provide the guidance you’ll need to succeed than Kendall Gelner. Highly recommended for aspiring indie developers!
