What a big week! On Thursday, we launched our newest Nanodegree program: Data Foundations! This is so exciting, as we now have a clear data path for every aspiring learner, no matter what skills and experience you currently possess. Beginners are welcome! If you’re ready to learn spreadsheets, SQL, and data visualization, this new program has you covered. From there, you can advance to either our Data Analyst or Business Analyst programs (depending on whether you want to include programming in your skillset), and after that, you’ve got Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Robotics, AI, and more!

Mainly, if you’re new to data, and ready to learn foundational skills that can have a significant impact on your career trajectory, then look no further than the new Data Foundations Nanodegree program from Udacity!

In preparing for the launch of this new program, one of the wonderful data points we unpacked was this one:

Salaries for employees with data skills such as Excel, SQL, and Tableau range from $85-$92k

And speaking of career prospects, we unearthed another pretty amazing stat this week, which we highlighted in our This Week in Machine Learning series:

Workforce consulting firm KellyOCG projects that demand for machine learning engineers will rise by 60% by the end of 2018, driven largely by automation efforts.

Data Foundations wasn’t the only new thing that launched this week—we also released the latest episode of The Drawing Board, Udacity’s new podcast!

EPISODE 4:
PASSION PROJECTS

Life as a budding entrepreneur isn’t exactly glamorous, and making a business come to life involves a lot of confusing, complicated, and exhausting realities. But when you have the passion to fulfill your dream, that passion can sustain you through all the hard work and long hours. And when you succeed, the results can be both incredible, and incredibly rewarding. In this episode of The Drawing Board, we talk with three passionate women who started their businesses as passion projects: Phuong Mai of P.MAI (2:00), Kate Torgersen of Milk Stork (6:20), and Kim Malek of Salt & Straw (19:00). We discover the paths they took to success, and explore the passions that fuel their work.

It wouldn’t be a week at Udacity if we weren’t able to celebrate some student successes, and we definitely had some great stories to share, like this one:

And did you read Pascal’s story right here on Medium? It’s incredibly inspiring, to say the least:

How one Udacity graduate’s personal health journey led to a better life, and a brand-new career!

And with that, we come to your favorite section and mine:

Tweet of the Week!

This is why we do what we do. Love this!

And THAT … is This Week at Udacity!
