One thing you can always say about education—it’s never boring! Seriously, our students are amazing. They come from such rich and diverse backgrounds, they build such remarkable things during their time in our classrooms, and they go on to achieve such phenomenal accomplishments in their careers.

A recent post right here on Medium from one of our superstar alums pretty much covers the entire history of awesome lifelong learning. His story begins in 1982, with the movie Tron, runs the gamut from Food Safety to Front-End Development, includes a Google scholarship, and ends with the author becoming a UX Designer! Along the way, we get tidbits like this one:

“Fun fact of the day: never wash poultry with water over the sink, you’ll just spread millions of Campylobacter cells all over your kitchen top!”

Seriously. You’ve got to read this post. It’s amazing.

So yes, our grads are great storytellers. But you know what else they are? Great teachers. One such amazing alum is José Nieto. He just launched a three-part series on implementing an image classifier using PyTorch. Why? Here’s why:

“While working on this final project, I discovered that I was finding similar issues and challenges as many of my fellow students. As I progressed towards completion, I made the decision to share some tips and insights that could benefit others in the future.”

Out of the goodness of his heart, that’s why! Here’s Post #1:

You know who else makes great teachers? Our partners and collaborators. Like, for example, Dan Romuald Mbanga. He’s the Global Lead of Business Development for Amazon AI, and he very generously engaged in an INCREDIBLE conversation this week with our own Mat Leonard (Product Lead for Udacity’s School of Artificial Intelligence) about the new SageMaker content in our Deep Learning Nanodegree program. Here’s a perfect example of the enthusiasm Dan has for knowledge sharing:

“We joke internally that we want to make machine learning so accessible that it becomes boring!”

Gotta love that. Here’s the full interview:

No matter how diverse the subject matter may get, everything in the Udacity world ultimately comes back to one thing—helping you advance your life, and your career. And that’s what posts like this one are all about:

And that’s what videos like this one are all about!

And with that, we come to everyone’s favorite part of these posts …

The Tweet of the Week!

Think we’re goin’ with this one. Because it’s awesome to see a “Goals for 2019” tweet already!

And THAT … is This Week at Udacity!
