Just when you think things are starting to mellow out around here, everything goes crazy again! What a week for Udacity, and for our students, partners, and community!

You may have seen this news this morning; how exciting is this? (hint: it’s REALLY exciting!)

Post author Leah Wiedenmann summed this up so beautifully:

“Being recognized by the European Commission is so much more than a testament to Bertelsmann, Google, and Udacity. It’s a testament to the 10,000 students who took a leap for their careers, landed exciting new jobs, and led by example.”

Udacity had the pleasure of making news all over the world this week. Did you see this article?

I loved what Udacity COO Clarissa Chen had to say in her post about this historic launch:

“This represents a chance to transform an entire generation — and an entire region — by connecting the desire to learn, with the opportunities to succeed.
Our investment in the region represents our commitment to empower Arab youth to be job-ready in today’s economy. Today’s launch is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey we will take together with our local partners and students, as we connect lifelong learners in the MENA region with the jobs of today, tomorrow, and beyond.”

And speaking of launches, yours truly had the honor of announcing our newest Nanodegree program earlier this week:

A Design Sprint is an extraordinarily effective way to harness creative energy, ensure the best ideas get put forward, and accelerate the processes by which great ideas become great products. (We run them at Udacity all the time!) In the new Design Sprint Foundations Nanodegree program, you can master this revolutionary 4-day methodology, and what you learn can be used by anyone, to advance any idea, or solve any problem (it’s not just for designers!):

Day 1: Creating “The Concept”
Day 2: Creating “The Storyboard”
Day 3: Creating “The Prototype”
Day 4: User Testing!

A successful Design Sprint is essentially “design thinking” in action — it is a strategic method to leverage creativity in the service of building quality.

And now, your favorite segment of this series and mine, the …

Tweet of the Week!

I’d say this is a pretty self-explanatory expression of the lifelong learning ethos at its finest!

And that … is This Week at Udacity!
