This Week at Udacity, June 15 edition
Udacity in India, Student Success in Texas, Udacity (finally) makes it into an article about Metallica, and more!
Lots of exciting things percolating in the land of Udacity this week!
Things got off to a lovely start on Monday, when Campus Technology ran an article featuring the 12 new free Careers Courses we just launched:
“From our industry partners we’ve heard time and again that mastering career-centric ‘soft’ skills is a critical part of becoming fully job-ready, and it is these strategies and techniques that often differentiate one job candidate from another when it comes to determining who ultimately gets hired,” — Kathleen Mullaney, VP, Careers, Udacity
Fortune India penned a lovely story about Udacity this week as well, highlighting Vish Makhijani’s trip to India:
“Our mission is to democratize education, and if we do it right, we can double the world’s GDP. It’s a crazy and audacious mission, but it’s rooted in our foundation.” — Vish Makhijani, CEO, Udacity
While our CEO may be a more common figure in the media, he wasn’t the only one from Udacity to get some ink this week, as Kirsten Mellor was featured in an article from Law.com:
“The best time to implement policies on sexual harassment is when you don’t have a problem.” — Kirsten Mellor, General Counsel, Udacity
And yes, as alluded to in the subtitle, we DID manage to get into an article with Metallica!
The best stories in any given week, of course, are the Student Success stories we have the honor of publishing, and we were able to share a lovely one this morning about a lifelong learner who definitely practices what he preaches:
“I thought that if I was going to stand in front of students and preach the importance of lifelong learning, I should be prepared to practice what I preach. So my Udacity experience was the way to do that — to demonstrate I was keeping my skills fresh by learning something new.” — Andrew Huschka, Udacity learner
And now, it’s time! Time for …
The Tweet of the Week!
This one is just a 100% feel-good moment:
And THAT … is This Week at Udacity!
