Our week got off to a rather exciting start when we learned we’d reached our highest spot ever on CNBC’s prestigious Disruptor 50 list—#8!

“To receive this acknowledgement from CNBC offers us the opportunity to recognize the contributions of every member of our community, and best of all, it provides us the chance to thank our students. To the 8 million and counting of you, thank you! There is no Udacity without you.”

This news set the stage, in rather lovely fashion, for a BIG announcement from The Next Web conference:

“There is a massive talent gap in data science. Companies all over the world, and across virtually every industry, have thousands of open positions in the field, and they can’t find enough qualified candidates. And they look to us to help.” —Clarissa Shen, COO, Udacity, speaking at The Next Web Conference

And THAT announcement set the stage, in rather lovely fashion, for this wonderful story that we were honored to share just this morning!

“My Nanodegree program was what gave me the confidence to even face the interview. It gave me so much to talk about. It meant I was able to show I was current in the workforce. I could talk about how I was actively pursuing new knowledge and adding to my skills. In the interview-setting, this felt just as important as being able to point to the specific programming and data knowledge I’d built.”

And that story sets the stage, in rather lovely fashion, for …

The Tweet of the Week!

And speaking of social media, were you on our Facebook page when David Silver interviewed Sebastian Thrun about The Future of Autonomous Transportation for Udacity Talks? It was amazing! If you missed it, no worries, you can watch the video right here:

More social media? You got it! How about a Lite Brite post from one of our wonderful #GoogleUdacityScholars?

Ok, ok, we’ll get to the tagline …

And THAT … is This Week at Udacity!
