Dayton

Kendall Pollard is likely to sit out this one, as he is still suffering from a thigh contusion. We’ll see if Ryan Mikesell, who I presume will start in his place, can improve upon his performance in the exhibition game. I’m looking for a much quicker start than last game. In addition to the things I was looking or in the exhibition, I would also like to see us come out of the gates with a bit more passion and bounce to our step. After coming out of the gates slow to Findlay it would be a relief to see the boys crank it up a notch. Another thing I’d like to see: BONSU PLAYING TIME LETS GO.

Austin Peay

SO HELP ME GOD I WILL THROW MY MONOCLE AT YOU

Miscellaneous: Their nickname is Governors (HELLO GOV’NAH). Their logo is the monopoly man wearing red, but instead of a railroad/real estate conglomerate this guy controls the grand college of Austin Peay. Not sure what sort of power that entails but his top hat sure looks nice.

They also unironically use the hashtag #LetsGoPeay which is legitimately funny but also kinda sad.

Last Year: Austin Peay made the NCAA tourney by wining the Ohio Valley Conference Tourney as an 8 seed. They proceeded to get pounded by Kansas 105–76 in the 1st round. From that team they lose Chris Horton, a first team All OVC player and the leader of the team, and starting shooting guard Khalil Davis.

Kenpom Ranking: 292 out of 352. That’s very bad and Austin Peay should feel bad about it.

This Year: Their best player’s will likely be #4 Josh Robinson, a junior guard who last year got to the line a bunch (over 5 fouls drawn per game) and converted at an 83% clip once he gets there. His also shot 34% from three on over 5 per game. Another player to look out for is 6'5" sophomore Jalen Savage (#2), who shot 38.5% from three last year. We cannot allow him open jumpers. Austin Peay lacks height, with only one upperclassman 6'8" or above. Josh Cunningham should feast on these guys tonight.

Predictions

  • Dayton wins by > 20.
  • Josh Cunningham has a double-double.
  • Xeyrius Williams dunks on somebody’s head.

THE SEASON IS FINALLY HERE! GO FLYERS!
