Recent Graduate Check In: Kaylea Konoval, Pittsburgh Penguins
We check in with recent spring ’17 graduate Kaylea Konoval who is currently working for the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
I started my internship with the Pittsburgh Penguins at the beginning of January 2017, which also happened to be my last semester of college. I worked in media relations and got to interact with the team, coaches and local/national media outlets on a daily basis. During games, I was responsible for running stats to coaches and media, making graphics for Instagram/Twitter, and writing stats and game notes.
Though I wasn’t able to come back for graduation on April 30th, I got the experience of a lifetime working for the back-to-back Stanley Cup champs. I’m now officially working for the Penguins as the Communications Graduate Assistant for the next season. Most of my duties are similar to my internship, but I’m involved way more in day-to-day responsibilities with the team. I’ll be making a lot more graphics for the team, visiting practices and I even get to recruit my very own media relations interns. I’m so excited to officially start my career in sports with one of my favorite teams since I was a little kid.
