EnerServ-Energy Management
Case Study-UI/UX
Energy conservation and environmental impact has been a
worldwide concern for years now. The alarming rate at which the
crisis is growing is every individual’s responsibility.
EnerServ is an energy audit and smart energy management startup
that helps households find ways and opportunities to conserve and
manage energy efficiently.
Problem Statement
To design a products & service through which energy consumption could be manged proactively while being at home and outside
Target Users
Homeowners who wish to track their energy usage and corporate offices who want to automate equipment on a bigger scale are the target users.
Goal
The purpose of this project is to create an intelligent energy monitoring system with Artificial Intelligence Technology that can be linked into a customer’s electrical box and allows customers to check energy usage of any appliance using an app on their cellphones. Users will also be able to create a budget for their energy use and will be notified when they reach the amount they have determined to spend per day, per hour, per week, and per month. Users will be able to see visualisations such as a chronology of daily home usage activities per appliance in real time.
Design Process
Research & Understanding the User
I did a survey with a diverse group of people and came up with the following ideas for developing an application that would have all of the features necessary to solve the problem.
Part of them intended to utilise a smart home app to automate their house appliances and help them stick to a schedule.
The rest of them were already using IoT apps and wanted them to be easier to use and have more capabilities, such as energy usage statistics, multi-user management, and automated device control, to help them make better lifestyle choices.
I decided to conduct interviews and made brief user personas with the details fetched.
Pain Points
1.To detect and automate daily routines, a user-friendly experience is required.
2.There is no effective energy management system in place to keep track of energy consumption.
3.There is no real-time cost tracking technology that allows users to keep track of their energy costs.
4.There is no way to build up routines that will force consumers to create an automated timetable for their gadgets, allowing them to save energy and money.
Ideate
After understanding the requirements and the pain points,I started with brainstorming, created a rough outline, noting down the ideas and then ended up creating the rough prototype.

Functionalities
I tried to add few functionalities which would help the user to formulate and execute the functioning of the gadgets present inside a house.
- Scenes
A scene is a simple method to automate your daily household routine. You can construct an unlimited number of scenes and have the gadgets work in accordance with them. You must first construct a scenario, then add devices and timers to it.
2. Devices
The functionality where you can control ,add, remove devices with a simple swipe and click and also select respective rooms all in one window.
3. Consumption Statistics
Energy consumption data can be used to keep track of how many units of energy are consumed each day, month, or year. Real-time cost tracking will provide an estimate of cost based on usage in real time.
By comparing prior statistical data, you may regulate your energy consumption and manage your finances with this programme.
4. Geo-fencing
Geofencing uses your smartphone to identify you and your home’s location. When you’re outside a certain boundary, your smart thermostat is alerted and the temperature is changed to a level that maximizes energy efficiency.
5.’Always-On’ Devices
This tab shows the list of all the devices that are permanently switched on and are in a regular use.
I added toggle switch button that could control the devices .
