This week was a challenge for me since it was really focused on information design and it was my job to try to get spice up a pretty boring interface (FAQs). Trying to make them fun and creative definitely proved to be a challenge but I learned some really great tips from the feedback this week.

Feedback

The geo design was almost the favorite because the boxes for each question give a little bit of a break for the eye between questions. However, the grey box prevented the answer from seeming to be attached to the question so it’s not as functional as the mono design. The mono design’s color for the +/- sign was too high of a sturation so it took away from the question itself. The glass was the least favorite design because it was pointed out that the header takes up a lot of space from the FAQ content.

The mono design was the best for information heiracrchy however it was pretty bland and there is no “visual glue”. This came up in a few of my other designs when it feels like the specific elements are floating instead of being connected to other elements. It was suggested that even a soft gradient would help with this problem in the design. Another great tip I got was to make sure that the header font and text size works for short, medium and really long headers.
