Power 2016: an American election
The photographs in this portfolio are from more than 3,000 shots by Jon Winet and Allen Spore for “Power2016,” a hybrid art-journalism project that traveled in July to document and provide commentary at the Republican and Democratic parties’ national political conventions in Cleveland and Philadelphia.
The first and last photographs in the series are from Johnson County, Iowa.
Power 2016 coverage was featured online and in print in The Brooklyn Rail, The Public (Buffalo, New York) and Little Village (Iowa City, Iowa).
Jon Winet is a professor in the University of Iowa School of Art& Art History Media | Social Practice | Design Intermedia Program. He holds an appointment on the Public Policy Center faculty.
Allen Spore is a Mississippi-based photographer and educator.
