Days are passing by so fast. Time flies away without us knowing it. Our lives are filled with busy schedules and juggling responsibilities while still pushing ourselves to achieve something more. We believe we’re leading a fulfilling life, but often we feel overwhelmed by all of that and losing ourselves. Does it sound familiar?

It’s okay if it does. It’s even good that you acknowledge it; that’s the first step. The next step is to do something about it. One way to help improve your well-being is practicing mindfulness. While there are many helpful ways to improve well-being, you might be wondering, “Why should I practice mindfulness?”, “Are there any risks?”. So here we have some interesting points for you to consider.

Boosting Your Brain

By practicing mindfulness you can improve your memory performance and your chances of recalling information (Brisbon & Lachman, 2017). With the right mindfulness practices, you will be more focused and increase your creativity.

Doing Good For Your Body

Studies found that practicing mindfulness helps to optimize the immune system. Immunity is an important factor for maintaining your health and fighting illness (Janusek, Tell, & Mathews, 2019).

- Stress + Happy

Mindfulness helps reduce negative emotions and manage stress. On the other hand, practicing mindfulness supports the perception of a satisfying life (Shapiro, Astin, Bishop, Cordova, 2005). It increases your positive mood and overall happiness.

Risks

Embarking on any practice to improve well-being (fitness, medications, therapy) that works with the mind and body involves risks. It is important to be mindful of your own current vulnerability, the intensity of practices, and the role of the instructor and/or instruction (Gotink, Meijboom, Vernooij, Smits, Hunink, 2016).
