Pizza in Bend

On social media groups related to our amazing city, one question tends to get asked more than any other.

“Who makes the tastiest pizza in Bend?”

A matter of opinion, sure, and it all depends on your preferences. A fan of Chicago style? Detroit? Sicilian? Veggie? Meat? Cheese only? Comments fill the page!

I have a fair amount of experience with pizza. During my late high school years and early college I worked as a cook and delivery driver for at least a few pizza shops. The food was my sustenance. These days, I still eat pizza at least once a week, whether from a local venue or at home. We make our own dough, sauce, and wildly experiment with toppings.

In fact, I love pizza so much that I created a checklist for local places in Bend. I won’t delve deep into specifics about each place, but feel free to send questions and comments for more information.

If a spot missed the list, it’s a larger chain, pizza is not the specialty, or it sits outside of the city limits. And yes, I’ve tried every single one, most of them at least a few times 😊

1. Abe Capanna’s

Bend’s newest pizza cart quickly took over the top spot in my opinion. This rectangular, Detroit style pizza has a thick crispy crust, red sauce, and every ingredient makes the mouth water! Located at Crosscut Warming Hut #5 across from the Box Factory, it’s also a great place to hang out.

2. Pizza Mondo

Bend’s longest running champion for ‘Best of’ in The Source, Pizza Mondo has become a downtown landmark. The shop has a large variety of pies, and you are guaranteed to find a few that become favorites. More often, I stop by and get a quick slice or two to fill my belly.

3. Bend Pizza Kitchen

Northwest Crossing is a small village unto itself, so naturally it needs a pizza place. BPK filled the spot nicely, with fresh, mostly locally sourced ingredients. The pizzas have a unique flavor, and I always enjoy getting a free pizza on my birthday!

4. Olde Towne

Olde Towne has been a mainstay in Bend for almost 20 years. The reason? Appetizing pizzas, root beer floats, and the atmosphere of an old school pizza parlor, with a checkered tile floor and all. Often overlooked, the spot is a must try for pizza aficionados.

5. Cibelli’s

A success story that began in Tumalo, Cibelli’s now has 6 locations with its newest parlor in Sisters. They offer huge pizzas to feed the entire family (or more) and most importantly, Cibelli’s offers consistency. You know you’ll be eating a delectable pizza each time you order.

6. Pacific Pizza & Brew

I rarely hear Pacific Pizza mentioned, but this local pizza joint should not go unnoticed. It’s a good place for families, especially for a dine in option after a ball game or for a weekend lunch.

7. Pisano’s

Many people claim Pisano’s has the best pizza. The wood fired artisan pizza is technically in Tumalo, but close enough to garner a spot on the list. While the pies we tried were flavorful, they seemed a bit expensive for the small size.

8. Little Pizza Paradise

Located in the Cascade Village shopping center, Little Pizza Paradise is the place to stop and grab some pizza if you’re in the area.

9. Raganelli’s

Raganelli’s Pizza is a family owned business in the Crossroads Plaza on Bend’s Eastside. The crust is part of what makes these pizzas worth the experience. Ever tried CBD infused dough? Of course, dough without CBD is available as well, also delicious, and they have a huge selection of microbrews.

10. Backyard Brick Pizza & Oven

Although pizza is this sports bar’s main item, the menu has a lot more to offer. It’s also a great place to watch your favorite game.

11. Deschutes Junction

Very recently, the Roundtable Pizza locations became Deschutes Junction. Since the change, I have not been inside to view the remodeling, but the pizza tastes very similar.

A few notable pizza places near Bend or small chains:

  1. Grace & Hammer
Grace & Hammer

Of all locations, Grace & Hammer has the most unique setting inside of an old church. The pizzas are delicious as well, wood fired and with locally sourced ingredients. Outside of Bend, this is my favorite in Central Oregon!

2. Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria

Flatbread Neapolitan has locations in Salt Lake City and a couple of in Idaho. If you have a craving for pizza while in the Old Mill District, stop in and order. I was not disappointed.

3. Abby’s Legendary Pizza

First opened in Roseburg, Oregon, Abby’s has been open since 1964! It’s the oldest on the list, and with over 30 locations in the state I believe it deserves a mention. Priding itself on its family friendly environment, Abby’s has deep roots in Oregon.

There you have it, 17 pizza places to keep your belly full this year. These listings are basically in the order of my personal preference by taste, but of course, everyone has their own opinion. And honestly, I like to mix it up depending on my mood. If I left one out, please let me know. It’s another pizza place I get to try!

Mark the list, get your pizza passport, and enjoy the wide variety of pizza in Bend!
