Ultiverse First Community AMA Recap
For those who missed our first community AMA, don’t worry you can read up on what was discussed right here. Thanks to everyone for attending and keep wait to chat again with our community on the next AMA!
Bowen: Welcome everyone. Thank you for joining us today on our first of many community AMAs! My name is Bowen, the social media Marketing Manager at Ultiverse and I’m going to be the host of the session today.
Ever since Ultiverse made its debut on social media about one month ago, the attention and engagement we’ve received so far is pretty impressive and this AMA, we believe, is something that everybody has been looking forward to, and I’m as excited as y’all that it’s finally happening today!
Ultiverse is the future of immersive social gaming by connecting Web3 with the metaverse and offering an immense virtual world where players are empowered to build mutually beneficial relationships, in other words, MetaFi.
The goal for this AMA is to share with everyone our vision for Ultiverse, get to know some of the team members behind the project as well as answer some of your questions.
In the first part of the AMA, I will ask some questions to our guests to help us learn more about Ultiverse and then we’ll switch to answering some of the questions from the community sent on Twitter.
We’ll also have a raffle at the end of the AMA for 10 additional OG Role spots so make sure to stay all the way through to the end!
So let’s start with some basic introductions. Please introduce yourself Frank and tell us some of your thoughts on Ultiverse.
Frank: Hey everyone, I want to thank you guys for attending our first AMA! I’m Frank, the CEO of Ultiverse. As an avid gamer, I have played all kinds of games since primary school and later on especially online-role-playing games, having happily spent thousands of hours in World of Warcraft. Entrepreneurship became a passion of mine and I’ve been a bit of a serial entrepreneur, co-founding a couple of startup companies in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ultiverse for me is a dream project that I have thought about building for a long time, as it combines real-life with virtual gaming and the best of blockchain and Web3, thus providing me with the opportunity to do what I love for a living.
And Ultiverse is actually a MetaFi platform that is borderless and permissionless, meaning it’s open to everyone from various cultures across the world. There will be a variety of games available on Ultiverse, as well as unique player avatars, integration of DeFi platforms and a robust creator economy.
If you have watched the movie ‘Ready Player One’ before, that is the type of extensive and immersive world that we’re aiming to build.
Bowen: Thanks Frank, and Jay would you like to introduce yourself as well?
Jay: Sure! I’m Jay and I’m the Business Development Lead here at Ultiverse. For me like Frank, gaming has been a core interest of mine since childhood, my first console was a Super Nintendo so I’m very much a 90’s kid. My favorite genre would probably be really expansive role playing games like the Witcher 3, Skyrim and recently Elden Ring to name just a few.
The opportunity to create a game like Ultiverse is very exciting as I feel that while there are some GameFi projects out there that have great potential, we’re still missing that true game changing experience that will not only appeal to gamers already in the crypto space but also a mainstream gaming audience across the globe, a true Triple-A experience where the gameplay and visuals stand on their own.
Bowen: I totally agree, mainstream adoption is so important for the whole space to move forward. So let’s start with the basic question which has been put forward by a lot of Ultiverse’s followers — what is the inspiration behind Ultiverse? Let’s have frank share his thoughts on this question as the CEO behind the project.
Frank: It actually comes from the team’s previous experiences. I was a big fan of different projects, like Axie Infinity and Decentraland as they offered an early opportunity to engage in GameFi which was very exciting. But I soon realized the space was still missing a true high-quality gaming experience, because no matter how well designed the tokenomics of a game are, the core gameplay loop needs to be fun, that comes first. And then the DeFi elements and rewards are an extra bonus for the players.
Our Chief Producing Officer Cipher shares the same mindset as I do, that for GameFi to evolve, the gameplay must come first and be fun and engaging for all players. He has been running a successful game studio for about 10 years now, so it was a natural fit for us to proceed on building Ultiverse together. We have the same goal to build a wonderland for all gamers, holding within a series games where there will be no barriers, where players from all around the world are empowered to create their own opportunities and benefit from working together.
Bowen: That’s great to hear that players will be free to pursue their own opportunities and work together as well. And Frank, What can you tell us about the art style that Ultiverse will have?
Frank: Early on we realized that we didn’t want Ultiverse to be limited to just a single art style. We want our game to not only appeal to cultures worldwide but also to embrace a wider visual style as there are so many interesting and varied art styles out there, that we’ve seen in gaming, comic books to movies and beyond. So back to the question, in Ultiverse, you will see Japanese manga and animation, cyberpunk, Western fantasy, East Asian martial arts among others.
Bowen: That’s cool that players will be exposed to a variety of styles from across the globe! What do you think Jay?
Jay: Yeah exactly, we want everyone to find a bit of themselves so to speak in the game and to be able to find others that share their own same interests, and then of course to share that with other players in the game, exposing them to new art styles that they perhaps haven’t been to before.
Bowen: So MetaFi is a term that is at the core of Ultiverse. Can you tell us what that means to your project Frank?
Frank: The core idea behind MetaFi in a larger context is implement a wide range of blockchain functionality into one Meta ecosystem.
More specifically to Ultiverse, MetaFi is about creating a brand new ecosystem that leverages the best of DeFi, GameFi, Web3 and NFTs and puts them all under one umbrella. And it’s gonna offer improved interoperability between these systems so that we can build and share with gamers the most fully realized virtual world and metaverse.
Within Ultiverse, there are multiple components that exist that will focus on different parts of the MetaFi ecosystem, such as Terminus City and our MMORPG Endless Loop.
Bowen: Cool cool, Can you expand on the components you just mentioned?
Frank: Sure, Terminus City is the central hub of Ultiverse. A vast area where to name a few features, players can interact with each other freely, access integrated DeFi platforms and the marketplace, display their NFTs, create guilds, take part in our governance DAO and even for the inspired, launch their own metaverse game which can be accessed by anyone playing Ultiverse.
As for our MMORPG game Endless Loop, what I can share at this time is that players will be able to explore multiple planets with their friends and are incentivized to work together to unravel the mysteries of each planets. There will be PVP as well as PVE game modes where groups of explorers will have to band together in order to complete the higher level quests.
Jay: Yes and mining and crafting will be core elements of the game. There are multiple resources available for harvesting on each planet and players will need to gather them and make use of the crafting system in order to not only survive but also thrive in these alien environments.
Bowen: With such an ambitious project, I’m sure the community would like to learn more about the development team that is working on making Ultiverse a reality.
Frank: Yes absolutely, we really set high goals for Ultiverse and I’m proud to say we’ve assembled a very talented and experienced team here to make our vision a reality.
Our team consists of over one hundred full-time game developers and artists working on the project. Our team members’ previous working experiences include Gameloft, Blizzard, Ubisoft, and Tencent to name a few. Some of the prior projects that they’ve participated in the development of are games such as the “Prince of Persia” and “Assassin’s Creed” series and the recent hit “Elden Ring.”
Bowen: Oh yeah on a personal note, I have a soft spot from the Assassin’s Creed games. Loved exploring famous cities and landscapes from different historical eras!
Frank: I feel that one of the reasons that series have been so successful is their cutting edge graphics which did a great job of drawing the player into the world they built and making it feel truly alive.
With that in mind, our team is placing significant importance on the visual fidelity of Ultiverse and they have been developing using Unreal Engine since 2016. The whole game structure of Ultiverse is being built using UE5.
We are very confident that we are one of the best UE development teams in the game industry, and therefore the high quality of our graphics will attract players from other GameFi projects as well as from traditional off-chain game communities.
Jay: Definitely also worth mentioning is that Ultiverse at launch will be VR compatible with desktop devices.
Bowen: I know the community is eager to hear about the story as well right? What can you share about the world that Ultiverse takes place in?
Frank: Well we don’t want to give too much away now as we are planning for a big reveal in the future but I can share that Ultiverse takes place in the near future. A future where technology has developed to a point where human organs and limbs can be replaced with electronic prosthetics. These modifications can greatly enhance the power and endurance of humans and being that they are widely available, soon everyone from patients, criminals, policemen, to athletes are using them.
The company behind this technology has amassed great power and influence on both politics and the economy, leading many to wonder and suspect that their intentions are not in the best interest of humanity.
Jay: If history tells us anything, these type of large multi-national companies often don’t have the best interests of the people in mind so needless to say there are factions in Ultiverse that are pushing back. It will be up to the player to decide which side they support.
Bowen: That is quite the teaser on the story! So I noticed earlier that teamwork between players is a core theme within Ultiverse. How will players be incentivized to work together?
Frank: There are two settings in our game: first is the concept of time. We are building a massive multiplayer open world, and all the activities in the game are going to take time instead of just a simple click of the mouse. For example, when collecting resources via mining, players will need to equip a pickaxe and go out into the wilderness and harvest valuable materials by finding their deposits in rock formations.
Second as a player layering model, which we believe will create a very organic relationship between supply and demand for all groups of players. Let’s take crafting NFT assets as an example. In Ultiverse, the rare NFT assets, such as a spaceship, will not be sold in the in-game marketplace directly, but through obtaining the blueprint for the spaceship first instead. After acquiring the blueprint of the asset you want, players will still need to collect different materials and go through a certain process to create that spaceship, which may take players hours and days depending on the rarity of the NFT asset they want to build.
Jay: We know that in the online multiple player game, every player’s time is consistent, no matter how much money or tokens one player spends, he or she still needs the help of other players in the community. This benefits the entire ecosystem because players will ultimately fit into their own roles naturally within Ultiverse.
They can choose to be investors in cultivating a planet, guild owners to build and manage their own guild, retailers that focus on crafting and selling NFT assets, or workers that collect materials and resources for other players to utilize.
Bowen: I really like the blueprint concept as in my experience most GameFi projects allow for the best assets in their games to be purchased directly without any effort which can ruin the experience for players that actually want to earn the coolest assets in the game.
Bowen: So onto our last question before answering some from our community, what are some of the big milestones coming up for Ultiverse in the next quarter?
Frank: For our MMORPG game, we are targeting an alpha test before the end of the year. And for Terminus City, we are on pace to release the Alpha version this June. By then, a certain amount of lucky community members will be able to engage with Ultiverse for an immersive experience. More information will be released by our team in the following weeks.
Also very excited to share with everyone that in Q2 we will be releasing our first NFT collection for Ultiverse. More details on that coming soon!
Bowen: Lots of things to look forward to! That concludes the first part of the AMA, now let’s answer some of the questions asked on Twitter. We’ll ask for your discord username on Twitter so please don’t forget to check your DMs
From Vlad Tor
Q: Will the game initially be on the BNB chain and the token itself too? What other blockchains are you considering in the future and will it be possible to play without VR glasses?
Frank: Great question! Yes at launch Ultiverse will be on BNB Chain as well as our native token. We chose BNB because they currently offer the most complete ecosystem for us to launch on and their team has been incredibly supportive and helpful in many aspects so it has been a very valuable partnership. Down the road we are also looking to expand to ETH and Solana. In regards to VR, we view it as bonus for players as it’s a great tool to increase immersion while playing. With that said, we know VR isn’t suitable for everyone so Ultiverse will definitely be playable without VR as well.

Q: What is the most ambitious goal of your project? What is the ultimate vision that your project is trying to achieve within the cryptocurrencies market?
Jay: That would be that Ultiverse is not only a game but also launchpad for additional games and experiences of different styles. Therefore empowering players to experience multiple game genres all in once place as the metaverse continues to grow and evolve. Player’s NFTs from each game will be compatible comestically with all other games on Ultiverse and we’re aiming to have their utility extend across games as long as it makes sense functionally.

Q. There will be a hub between games. And the games will have several resources. Will these resources be cross-game and will it be possible to use resources from one game to another?
Frank: Yes, all resources that players gain from all games within Ultiverse will follow the player to Terminus City where they can be exchanged for our native token.
Q. In the roadmap, you will launch your NFTs in the second quarter of this year, but the mainnet will go live next year. During this time, how will you empower the NFTs and encourage people to hold?
Jay: That’s a key question. While our mainnet will be live next year the Alpha Net for Terminus City will be live this June and holders of our NFTs will be given special privileges and will receive airdrops throughout the development process. We have some exciting things planned for NFT holders so stay tuned for future announcements!

Q. A successful blockchain game should not only be aimed at people familiar with cryptocurrencies, but should also be able to attract external players. I want to know what Ultiverse is planning in this regard and how you will attract more players from the traditional gaming to join?
Frank: Great question and I think attracting players from traditional gaming is the ultimate goal of everyone in this space. For us we believe the high quality visuals of Terminus City and Endless Loss will be very attractive to traditional gamers looking for the next Triple A social gaming experience. And being that Ultiverse is Free-To-Play there is no barrier of entry or initial investment needed for players to try our game. From there I see many players that are new to crypto beginning to see the value of DeFi and Play-To-Earn as they get involved deeper into the economy step by step, not only playing for fun but realizing they can earn at the same time.
Bowen: These are all the questions we have time for today. Thank you to everyone who submitted a question on our Twitter, if your question didn’t get answered this time, stay tuned as we’ll have more upcoming AMAs in the future. Also I wanna thank our guests Frank and Jay for taking time to join this session.
Frank: You’re welcome, that was fun! Glad to be able to hold our first AMA and share our thoughts and vision with the community!
Jay: Yes, that was a lot of fun, thanks everyone for attending and thank you too for hosting Bowen.
Bowen: Ok, take care everyone, looking forward to chatting again soon!
